We arrived early and were checked in- I feel like we had to have been upgraded because the room was HUGE! Very quiet- beds were comfy-shower was AMAZING! This hotel is connected by a skywalk to many other downtown buildings which was really helpful for us! Highly recommend!!!

We stay here regularly when there's a show at the Des Moines Performing Arts Center. The location is perfect with food and nightlife nearby. The hotel is in an older building, so the rooms tend to be various shapes and sizes, which has its charm. We are always welcomed by friendly staff who are eager to help with anything we might need. The rooms are comfortable.

I was surprised at such a high end hotel for DSM the staff was not willing to go the extra mile.
While the lobby and common areas are very nice the bathroom in our room was extremely small. To the point if you are a larger person you will be unable to turn around without rubbing the glass shower or other wall, it was almost comical.
Lastly, in my experience at a higher end hotel you call down and they will bring your car up for you if you have used valet. Pretty much a standard with hotels that offer such a service. I called the front desk and was told she was unwilling to do this and had no way to contact the valet staff. I know from being in the lobby the front door is maybe 30 feet from the front desk but she was unwilling to walk over and ask them to grab the car associated with my room number. When I got to the valet he was no where to be found and I had to go hunting asking other members of hotel staff for the valet, normally not a big deal but we were in a hurry to get to our next thing for the day.
Overall, I would not stay again I have had much better experiences at other hotels down town DSM. I was disappointed as this hotel just went thought a huge remodel and has a lot of history in the DSM area.

Downtown area was a little iffy at first but the convenience of the location won out. Great walkability to the market, dining and bars. Nice atmosphere and helpful staff.

We were running in the Des Moines Marathon. The location was perfect! Hotel was so very nice! Highly recommend this property!

Room and bathroom are small but very nicely decorated. Parking ramp was cheap considering you are staying downtown.

The bed was too firm so my fibro has flared this morning BUT literally everything else has been amazing from the moment we walked in. We love staying here and this one night of discomfort hasn't changed that. Every other bed has been lovely. We'll be back.
