We have been to Spain many times and we were anxious to explore the Priorat region on this Fall trip. We contacted the incredible Cristina who operates Cal Llop and spent 3 wonderful nights there. Cristina arranged the “Wine Tourism Pack” for us. This includes 2 fabulous winery visits and 1 DOP Siurana oil tasting. We were so pleased to visit these small family owned establishments. Yes. There are large famous wineries in the area that offer the normal wine tastings. But Cristina’s choices are very unique and offer a fascinating glimpse of life in the Priorat. We have been to olive oil tastings but nothing like the elegant tasting at this family run operation. The Hotel is very charming and comfortable. We chose the larger room with great views eventhough we had to do some bending for the sloping ceiling it was worth it. This old mansion has been lovingly brought to life with all the modern conveniences and beautiful hand wrought iron art. Breakfast was more than adequate and the young women preparing and serving were very sweet and accommodating. There are wonderful restaurants nearby which Christina recommended. When there was a scheduling conflict with one of our lunch reservations and a winery visit, Cristina made it all work. She had the restaurant open early for us! Driving in Gratallops is not for the faint of heart. But once our rental car made the steep climb we always found parking either in front or in the side lot. This was the Perfect way to experience The Priorat Region. Thank you Cristina.

A very nice stay in a lovely little village in the heart of the Priorat wine region. The owner was a delight with lots of information and laying on a lovely dinner for the guests when everything else in the village was shut (Mondays in Spain!!). We had a lovely terrace (room 10) with stunning views. Would highly recommend

We had originally just booked a few nights in Barcelona, but decided to extend our trip to explore some of the nearby wine region and were so happy we did! We stayed for two nights in this very charming hotel in November which was a very easy drive from Barcelona. I guess because it was low season, we found ourselves to be the only guests which was a shame for the hotel as they didn't deserve to be so empty, but lucky for us! Christina looked after us very well and served delicious breakfast, which although were not hot were very tasty and more than enough to set us up for the day. There were cheeses, hams, croissants, cereals, toast and baguette, all fresh and delicious. A dinner one night was also included which again was delicious. We had room 9, which was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. There was also a decent side bathroom with large walk in shower. You just need to watch your head on the sloped ceilings if you are tall! The location is in a picturesque village, perfect for exploring the area and our stay also included a couple of wine tastings in nearby wineries, both of which were friendly and poured impressive wines. We were glad we brought our wine suitcase and brought a few bottles home! The hotel also has the most beautiful views, and there is a village courtyard in front of the hotel which was completely empty whilst we were there and where we enjoyed a glass of some of the wines we purchased. Even in November, it was warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. We had one meal in a restaurant in the village called 'Slate' which we enjoyed very much. Would recommend. We also visited the monastery nearby and the adjacent winery, both which are worth a visit. We were both taken by this area of Spain and this welcoming hotel. We were well looked after and would highly recommend.

Small boutique hotel was a cute find. Comfortable bed, good sized room and nice amenities in the bathroom. Convenient restaurant within for breakfast and dinner and food was tasty. Proprietor was very gracious and helpful. Very quiet town at this time of year so glad to have dining available at the hotel.

It is an absolutely charming hotel. Comfortable, clean, and fun. Christine was a wonderful host and very helpful in setting up wine tours in the area. The food at the restaurant was fantastic. Dinner in the evening was a wonderful experience with great food and a terrific wine list in a beautiful setting. Breakfast was also wonderful and I would recommend booking as the town takes a while to wake up and you will not do better.

Wonderful place , excellent food, great breakfast and Christina the owner is such a wonderful, kind and considerate host ! She did not only organise our stay at the hotel but also a wine tasting visit in Porrera. More than a hotel manager , she really enjoys been with her guests. We were sad to leave the place and we will definitely be back soon !

The small boutique hotel is very charming, in an old house (as are all the houses in the village, which is part of the charm). They were friendly and welcoming. My room was all the way on the top, cozy, with a charming partially open layout bathroom, everything in a traditional way, which is exactly what I was looking for, going to that village. The benefit of the top room was a nice spacious terrace with views of the village and the vineyards the mountain across. It deserves 4.5 points. The two minor issues that I had were:1. waking up 4 floor’s times get to the room (which is normal in this village-old traditional houses, no elevator -I just wished they had emailed me to warm me, so that I could leave part of my luggage in the car). 2. The streets to the hotel are very narrow (again, old small town in the mountain, expected; don’t drive a large SUV), and parking space is tight. Nonetheless, I loved it and would definitely stay there again (less luggage, small car).
