We booked a room in the Minguo courtyard to experience the Republic of China extension but instead we were put in a more recent and not charming building. Hotel staff didn’t speak English so we didn’t try asking for the room in the courtyard that we booked as changing rooms would mean climbing down 4 floors with our luggage and waste time explaining with translator app. Room was small, enough for a night or if you don’t want to spend time at the hotel. Mattress was pretty hard. Shower and towels not perfectly clean. One can tell that the towels are quite old. There was no breakfast and no possibility to add it despite a large room available for it. There is also space to have tea but no one was working there. Front part and first 2 courtyards of the hotel look nice. Staff was polite. Our luggages were carried up. Location is good in the touristic rebuilt-ancient neighborhood. Convenient for a night but will not go again.
