Great welcome, wonderful location with picturisque scenes. The food was exceptional and really fresh. Staff were really on the ball, but still with that relaxed everything is working as it should atmosphere. No stress, no stuffiness. Highly recommend.

I was waiting to see what I felt after some time had passed. We stayed there about a month ago. On balance, despite the beautiful setting I can only rate it as average. The rooms we stayed in were OK and designed in a faux rustique style but not really particularly sophisticated. The problem we had was turning the radiators down. The room was over heated and we needed to open the windows to cool the room down. Ironically I could see a large fuel tanker delivering heating oil at the same moment I opened the windows to lose some expensive heat to the outside. The staff were very attentive and politely efficient. However, we all felt the food was disappointing and not up to the standard one would expect in this price range. We were quite a large party and were there to mark a family occasion. The drinks bill was enormous and again we felt the hotel was punching above its weight. As a flippant aside one of family decided not to stay there as he did not want to stay anywhere called The Pig. In summary, we enjoyed our stay but felt the quality of the experience didn't quite match the price the price tag.

I was given a voucher for a birthday present and we kept looking at the menu online and found it difficult to decide. We knew the voucher was due to expire so booked a date for February, the whole experience was awful, the service and the food. The duty manager after the lunch was very apologetic despite being given wrong menus, items not on the menu, items not as described and just generally awful. They kindly agreed to extend the voucher so we went for a second visit last weekend. So our second visit….to realise this place is not cheap it is nearing price band of Michelin starred restaurants so you expect the service to go with it. You cannot argue the location is stunning but that’s about it. We enter the hallway and have to wait for someone to greet us, dressed in jeans and a shirt, we were sat at a very small table and given food menus, we were asked then what we would like to drink, we had not been given a drinks menu. We ordered our food nibbles of crisps with a scallop mayonnaise and vegetables with a beetroot hummus. The crisps and scallop mayo very uninspiring kettle chips with what could have been a thousand island mayo. The vegetables and hummus just average. Main course we ordered rump of lamb with wild garlic mash and skate wing. To say both main courses were not far off £30 each, awful. The lamb was tough with a sinue running through it and the skate wing we have never seen cut into such a small portion. Dessert, we opted for the sweet treats, not particularly nice other than the coconut ice, the piggy shape plain chocolate with orange filling definitely not everyone’s choice. So then presented with a bill for £116 and you walk away very deflated…

We went for lunch for a 60th birthday celebration. The Location and the house are five stars. However, the food is three stars. Whilst it does use the best ingredients, the chef really needs to up the dishes. They were disappointing, unimaginative, and a waste of really good food. And for us, a waste of money. Improvement is needed.

Wow, what can I say…. We have been here for dinner a couple of times before and it is always great. I decided to throw a surprise 40th birthday for my wife - the staff made the whole experience streamlined and easy, they honestly could not be more accommodating or helpful in the lead up. On the day again the staff could not have been more helpful. A big shout out to our waiters Charlie and Sarah in the folly- you are both amazing. Food insane. Accommodation show stopping. Best decision I have made!

We have just returned from 2 nights at the Pig - one of their midweek Winter special deals and had a fantastic break. It was our first visit to a Pig and having heard many great things we wondered if it would live up to expectations. It certainly did. The hotel is warm and inviting ( especially on a wet February day), super comfy rooms, excellent food and first class staff. It is all very chilled and relaxed but run with great professionalism and attention to detail. We were only in one of the smallest rooms but it wasn’t by any means cramped and had a 6 ft bed still leaving ample room . Lovely shower room too with fantastic shower. Excellent spa treatments too. We will definitely return.

The building is beautiful and the staff were polite. Sadly the food was very average & not at all what I expected from the feel of the restaurant. The drinks were also very expensive. A real shame as we had high hopes! Don't waste your money....

We went to the Pig at Combe for our first trip with our 11 week old and I can honestly say we had a fantastic time! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were so lovely and accommodating. Being first time parents we were conscious to not upset any other guests so requested room service both nights. The staff went out of their way to make us feel special and set up a dining table in the room so we could feel like we were in the restaurant! It was actually very romantic! We stayed in a Big Comfy Luxe room and it was huge and overlooked the front of the estate. It was beautiful and had a large bathroom with roll top bath in a bay window. Plenty of space for all that comes with a newborn! They provided a travel cot and some extra bath goodies for our daughter too. Another concern was disturbing other guests from the room but they are very well sound proofed and we were lucky in that our daughter was as good as gold for the entirety of our stay! The property itself is stunning and there are a few rooms to choose from to have afternoon tea and an evening drink. We loved relaxing in the library room before dinner and our daughter happily bounced away in her little bouncer by the fire perplexed by the chandeliers and intricate patterned ceiling! It was perfect! If you are at all nervous about bringing a little one here, don't be! The staff are so lovely and we had many guests saying hello and starting up conversations about her! Thank you to the Pig and all of the staff there for making our first trip as a new family such a special memory.

We stayed overnight to celebrate my wife’s birthday and the experience certainly didn’t disappoint. As soon as we checked in my wife got a “happy birthday” greeting. I had booked a Comfy Room but we got a complimentary room upgrade to one of the converted stables with a lovely welcome note from Sophie and the team as a birthday surprise. Dinner was superb - all the dishes we had were fresh and very tasty. More birthday wishes from the team. Everyone at The Pig has been fantastic. A superb stay with excellent service and attention to detail. Thank you. We will be back.
