Friendly, very welcoming, helpful staff. Good selection of bar food for an evening meal. Good full cooked breakfast. Bed a little soft, but then others will think ok. No phone reception indoors (for O2 anyway) so made calls outside. Good internet connection though.

Great hotel in a lovely place. The best English breakfast I have ever tried. Nice team. The only thing I have noticed : the bedroom was not clean on the floor.

One of the reasons we chose this particular hotel was due to the fact it's a 'Family Run' Hotel. We are so pleased we made this decision as were treated so well. We booked a B&B stay. Our room was lovely and the breakfast was so good. We also chose to have dinner/drinks on both nights of our stay and again, we are so pleased we made this decision as again, the food was lovely and the staff were so friendly, polite and helpful. Would I go back to this hotel and would I recommend it... Absolutely yes, on both counts.

Room very comfortable and spacious in the new wing. Staff very helpful in ordering taxi as could not get good mobile reception in room.
Informed of function in advance, although the bar was very quiet in the evening because the functions was adjacent to it and there was noise outside during the night.

So hot in the rooms, need to give out fans as a minimum. Staff not on site over night, fire alarm took ages before someone arrived to turn it off

Over-all a good stay and super staff however 3 big issues.
1) we took a call about our booking telling us a wedding was on but would finish music at 11pm. This didn’t happen until 12.10. Bad news when we have 200 miles to drive.
Room far too hot….fridge in room with 6 single portions of milk on all night pumping out heat. What a waste of energy multiplied across every room x 365 nights per year.
Glass wash in bar is faulty and needs servicing / replacing or more rinse aid. Busy night and staff stressed so I didn’t raise the issue but every pint glass we saw used was stained. Many people think this is water stain…it’s not…water doesn’t stain but does leave deposit on glass if not clean.

Stayed at hotel, excellent service, lovely room, excellent food. However due to wedding had noisy drunk people standing outside room until 01.00 swearing and shouting, i asked them to move and was told to 'F'*** off , staff did not intervene , or were available to complain too on checkout.

Not a country retreat more like a noisy party pub transported to the countryside. The garden looked pleasant but we were excluded on both noughts due to corporate parties. Breakfast on first day was well overcooked. Wi-Fi was not good
