I found the whole experience odd. Staff wasn't helpful in terms of giving direction for locker room/what to do before getting in the lagoon. Pool seemed dirty (don't want to know what my feet came across a few time). Dirty cups all around the pool from the drink (which was terrible sparkling wine). Wish we had tried Sky or secret lagoon instead.

An amazing hotel, our host was wonderful, greeted with champagne upon arrival and the weight of the world lifted off our shoulders as our host organised everything. The rooms were delightful and looked out onto the silica waters that surround the lagoon. The access area, from the retreat, to the blue lagoon was discreet and one couldn’t help but feel special as at times the lagoon gets busy. We loved our stay here!

We packed in a lot with our 7 day visit to Iceland with our last night in the Blue Lagoon. It was spotless and found the staff very attentive. The room was immaculate and the view was amazing. The curtains kept out the “midnight sun”. We ate dinner and found the three courses excellent.

Jonathan and the rest of the staff were very kind and accomodating to me! Jonathan went out of his way to make sure I felt welcomed at the Blue Lagoon. Without him, my experience at the Blue Lagoon would not have been the same! I am very appreciateive of Jonathan for making my experience at the Blue Lagoon one that I will remember forever!

We came here at the end of a 3-week trip around Iceland and couldn't have asked for a better finish. Top-notch accommodation, staffing and facilities. The pools and spa are amazing and we loved the hotel's philosophy of encouraging guests to disconnect from screens. The only part the hotel felt not exceptional was food variety on the menus, which (except for the Michelin-rated Moss restaurant, which we did not try) was pretty much the same as in much cheaper places we visited in Iceland, although quality was superb. Regardless of that, we can't recommend it enough (would give it a 6-star rating, if possible) and would love to come back some time.

Not cheap but worth every penny. Despite all of the extra tensions related to the eruption, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the food — especially the Moss — was fantastic, services offered by the spa were terrific, and the facility itself is gorgeous. And then there’s the Bkue Lagoon itself! Oh, and we saw the northern lights!! Just a perfect stay. We’ll be back!

If you are visiting Iceland, this place is really a must! Design - clean lines and very modern. Atmosphere - luxury, with contemporary designs, spacious high ceilings, open lobby, the hotel felt a bit commercial, formal and non personal Rooms - very designer with lots of little gadgets, great little touches promoting inhouse products which you can buy at their gift shops Breakfast - good selection and variety Service - nothing stood out, not the worst nor the best Spa - a MUST go, great experience, it was a journey with all the different mud scrubs, masques, lagoon visit etc. Restaurant - the one we visited was good This may not be the best hotel with the best service ever... but this is a hotel where you are here for the incredible experience as part of the Iceland journey/adventure! Surrounded by lava rocks, thermal spa and spectacular sceneries!

It was a difficult decision whether or not to splurge for this luxury hotel, but worth every penny. From the moment I arrived, I was beautifully cared for by the excellent staff. I arrived early and as they were getting my room ready, I was invited to enjoy the breakfast buffet. The buffet was top notch with smoked fish, cold cuts, fresh fruit, egg dishes, yogurts with granola, cheeses and amazing bread and pastries. There was also an a la carte menu - but not necessary for me as the buffet was superb. I was given a personalized tour of the hotel by Thor, which made the hotel feel even more welcoming and friendly for my solo trip. There are certain hotels around the world that have a focus on setting, design and service - like the Southern Ocean Lodge in Australia on Kangaroo Island - and this falls into that category. From the moment you walk into the lobby, you feel transported to another world with the high ceilings, beautiful furnishings and views of the lagoon and 800 year old lava field. The room was a total sanctuary and perfect for indulgent time alone for R&R. As a guest of the hotel, you are welcome to use the private spa and private lagoons. I loved the facilities at the spa from the sauna and cold plunge pool to the treatment rooms to experience the different types of mud. I booked a flotation therapy session and I would absolutely recommend it. It was a unique experience - floating in the water and being weightless and being cared for by an expert therapist. It was freeing and nurturing at the same time. I booked an early dinner at the Lava Restaurant. I probably would have been better off just to eat in the spa as they have lovely food service there. As a solo traveler, the restaurant, while beautiful, felt a little large and overwhelming. If you are traveling as a couple, I’d probably recommend keeping the experience more intimate and trying the Moss restaurant. Finally, I’ve noticed how service in restaurants and hotels has really suffered since the pandemic - so it was especially nice to experience the amazing hospitality of not only Thor, but truly, the entire staff. I was welcomed, pampered and well cared for.

There are no words - just amazing, the best 24 hours of my life! Truely truly amazing. From checking in we were shown to a private changing room so we could start using the retreat spa straight away. Swimming in the pools out of this world and using the spa facilities (all included in the price) amazing You can also walk out to the public blue lagoon area through the ‘private’ spa to take photos - so easy and amazing Our room was amazing we had a lagoon view and it was lovely, the only suprising thing was there were no bed side tables! The view did more than enough to make up for it !!! I felt so guilty that our transfer arrived on Sunday morning and before we knew it we were in the car, and I didn’t get to say a personal thank you to our host and the staff they had all been so lovely The only things which could have been better - I have coeliac disease and therefore require a gluten free diet - I had emailed the hotel over a week in advanced about this. Unfortunately the bread was made along side the normal bread and therefore not suitable, I would have expected given so much notice this could have been rectified - the service at breakfast wasn’t up to the standard of the rest of the visit which was a little disappointing - it was my husbands birthday and they had left some chocolates, there was no note to say if these were gluten free or not - while for my husband it would have been nice to know if we could share them

This was the best (and by far the most expensive) hotel I stayed in Iceland. Yet, with a price tag of upwards of USD$1200 per room per night, you’d be forgiven if you expect quite a lot better. Firstly, the hardware / physical facilities are stunning. Architecturally beautiful, modern, sleek and with some smart features. The spa is world class helped by the natural hot water from the surrounding geothermal grounds. Most of the facility especially the rooms use dark coloured tiles and floors so if you don’t like dark coloured rooms, you won’t like this hotel. The room lighting is also quite dim. Reception staff were responsive and helpful and welcoming. The room I got was a lagoon view terrace suite. About 40 square meters. Not big but ok. A very good bed which was firm and they provided foam / orthopaedic pillows which I had pre-requested. The bathroom shower was perhaps the best I’ve ever experienced. Powerful shower. There was no work desk in the room. Some of the amenities you’d expect in a five star luxury hotel were missing including the absence of cups for washing or rinsing your mouth while brushing teeth! No tv. No clock. I suppose the hotel wants the experience to be one where guests can relax fully without disturbance. Breakfast was very good. Great selection of the usual cold cuts, pastries, breads, spreads and some fruit and cereals. Plus eggs cooked to order. The private lagoon and spa were the main highlights. For the price tag, I can’t help but feel that it is a bit overpriced compared to some of the other top notch resorts in Asia and Europe.

The Retreat Hotel at The Blue Lagoon Iceland is a must stay! It is worth the expense. We stayed in one of the Lagoon Suites that has its own private lagoon to spend time in. Absolutely worth every penny spent on it for 2 nights.
