Hemingway`s Heidelberg Hostel

This place is awesome! It’s a hostel so it’s rustic but you can’t beat the location! The hostel is direct in the Alt Stadt right across from the Neckar River! This is where Hemingway stayed on his visit to Heidelberg, thus the name! There is a very good restaurant down below with outside dining on the Neckar River! It’s really hopping in the evenings! Beware this hostel doesn’t have an elevator so you will have to carry your luggage up the stairs! The high ceiling rooms are sp**** and the beds are big with the floors are slanted but that’s the charm in a 500 year old building! Open the windows to the views of the hills and the river. There are 2 rooms on each floor with a shared bathroom. The staff are very friendly and helpful! We will definitely be back soon!

Great if you want a 'vibe' - the bar downstairs was crammed and jolly. All rooms involve climbing at least two flights of steep stairs (think Netherlands). Comfy clean room (with TV!, but not washbasin). Sometimes had to wait for shared toilet/shower room. Picturesquely situated by the river and not far from pretty Altstadt. Quite a trek from the station.

Handy property conveniently located to old town. Room and shared bathroom were clean. It is just a room as there is no service from the bar staff downstairs or common areas to sit. Beware there are many flights of steep stairs.

Well located Hostel!

The hostel is centrally located on the edge of the Old Town. There is no elevator, so it is not handicap accessible. The toilet and bath are down a short hallway and shared with the other people staying on the hall.
