Amazing
GGuest UserThe hotel is in an excellent location, more than 300 meters from the central railway station (direct access to the airport), and the Helsinki Central Library and Concert Hall are within walking distance; the front desk and staff are very friendly; the hotel is an old building, all on the 5th floor, but not on the same level, but the sign system is very well done, and guests are not easily lost; the breakfast is very rich, buffet + a la carte, the taste is very good, breakfast starts at 7:00, the hotel prepared a simple breakfast for early risers at 4:00, which is heartwarming; the hotel has a sauna and Finnish bath, which are really refreshing when you return to the hotel in the evening; there are steps at the front entrance of the hotel, but there is a special elevator at the back door of the hotel that can directly lead to the road ground; the details are considered very thoughtfully and are satisfactory; the only shortcoming is that there is no traditional wardrobe.
HheidiOverall, my recent stay with Bob W was disappointing.
I booked the 4-person penthouse room primarily for the use of the sauna on my last day of the trip.
Firstly, pin code provided was only valid for door access to the stairs, not door to the elevator side at night. This became a significant inconvenience, especially for a female traveler like myself who arrived at night after a tiring flight. Having to carry a 20kg luggage and a 10kg carry-on up five flights of stairs was both physically demanding and frustrating. Clear arrangements on how to access the elevator at night should have been considered for guest.
Secondly, check-in process was not clearly communicated, causing panic upon arrival. Unfortunately, I had to seek help from customer service on a third-party booking site and reach out via email to obtain a check-in link, which added unnecessary stress and confusion.
Furthermore, instruction for turning on the sauna were unclear, and I was unable to enjoy it until the next morning at 8am, just few hours before my checkout time. I had specifically chosen the penthouse room with the sauna for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. due to the lack of clear instructions, and had to seek assistance to figure out how to operate it properly, which ate into the limited time I had available to enjoy the amenity.
In conclusion, my stay with Bob W fell short of my expectations. The limited time to enjoy the amenities, issues during the check-in process and accessing the elevator, made for a less than satisfactory experience. I hope that Bob W seriously takes feedback into consideration and makes the necessary improvements to ensure a more enjoyable stay for travelers in the future. Thank you
GGuest UserThe stay was okay, except there was no slippers provided even when i stayed at the junior suite. Also the reception services wasnt great. Some were very helpful (i believe her name was vilma) while others were not. When i was checking out to take a uber to the airport, this lady told me i should not be taking uber outside the hotel and if i wanted to, i should do it away from the hotel. She suggested to take the taxis parked outside. Foolishly i thought at worst, the taxis would cost maybe double of the uber (which was 22euros) to my horror, the bill came out to be 90euros. The taxi driver drove so slowly, i felt i shld be walking, until i gave him a piece of my mind only then did he speed up. I suspect the meter is rigged (jumped 10cent euros every 7-8sec? Either that or the hotel is in cahoots with the taxis outside. DO NOT TAKE TAXIS IN FINLAND! Take uber!
YYmanWe had a lovely stay: the Scandic Hub has a great location to explore Helsinki and there was a good amount of choices on where to eat in the surroundings. The rooms were clean and comfy beds after a day of sightseeing. We would gladky come back again next time!
MMao72During a road trip through Finland, I stayed at this property several times. It offers essentially identical studio apartments. Its strong point is definitely its convenient location, being about a 15-minute train ride (equivalent to a subway ride) from the airport and 15 minutes from Helsinki city center, with the Malmi station about 100 meters away. The area is predominantly residential, with several businesses nearby. Despite its proximity to the station, external soundproofing is excellent. A weak point, however, is the poor ventilation in the room, with only a small hinged window opening (probably for security reasons; rooms assigned on the 13th and 11th floors) and the windowless bathroom, which tends to stay damp. The last room assigned also had an unpleasant smell of cooked fish, presumably left by the previous guest.
KKHAMINI CHANDRANHere’s an example review for Valo Hotel:
---
I recently stayed at Valo Hotel and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The hotel strikes a perfect balance between modern design and cozy comfort. The rooms were impeccably clean, well-designed, and equipped with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. I particularly loved the smart layout, which maximized the space without compromising comfort.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with any queries or special requests. The location was also a big plus—conveniently situated close to key attractions, public transport, and great dining options.
One standout feature was the wellness area. The sauna and fitness facilities were top-notch, offering the perfect way to unwind after a long day. The breakfast buffet was equally impressive, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options catering to different tastes and dietary preferences.
Overall, Valo Hotel provided an excellent stay that exceeded my expectations. Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, I highly recommend it for its quality service, comfortable ambiance, and great amenities. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
112345The front desk service was excellent and very welcoming. The hotel rooms were well-equipped and spotlessly clean, making for a very comfortable and pleasant stay. The hotel offers convenient airport transfers with a free shuttle bus.
EExplorerOneIf you do not mind sharing rooms with strangers, this hostel in Helsinki is good for you.
Luggage room is accessible by all customers, take your own risk.
One shower room’s lock is broken and the door cannot be completely closed. A gap between partition is seen but can be covered by the shower curtain. Plenty rooms for showers.
YYee11Stayed at Scandic Helsinki Aviapolis, a convenient airport hotel near Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Overall, it was a good stay, ideal for transit travelers and short visits.
The hotel is just a few minutes from the airport, with a free shuttle service running every 20–30 minutes. It is also within walking distance of Aviapolis train station (about 15 minutes), making it easy to reach Helsinki city center. A major plus is the Jumbo Shopping Mall nearby, offering a variety of restaurants, shops, and a grocery store—perfect for those needing last-minute essentials or an alternative dining option.
The room was clean, modern, and functional, featuring comfortable bedding, a work desk, and a well-maintained bathroom with a walk-in shower and essential toiletries.
The breakfast buffet starts at 6 AM, offering a great selection of fresh bread, cold cuts, hot dishes, and Finnish specialties. For those with super early flights, a light breakfast is available from 4 AM.
Due to time constraints - I briefly checked out the gym and sauna in the basement which appeared well-maintained.
The staff was friendly and efficient, making check-in and check-out smooth. The overall atmosphere is modern and practical, making it a great choice for travelers catching an early flight or needing a short, comfortable stay near the airport.
GGuest UserThe distance is very close. There is no self-service check-in. The environment is not bad. There are shared bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens. You need to bring your own ingredients. The price is high and it is only about 1.5 kilometers away from Vantaa Airport. It is very cost-effective for those who want to travel for a short time or transfer. It's like living in a semi-forest! The heater is not very warm and the temperature is a bit low. I don’t know if the cold spot will be higher!
Some top places to stay in Helsinki are near popular attractions like Helsinki Cathedral and Sibelius Park—so you can quickly get to top landmarks and amenities you need.
