The room was booked by my employer for a one night stay. I arrived to check in at around 6.30pm and was asked if I wanted breakfast. I confirmed that I did and I was asked to pay £12 in advance, which I did. I confirmed that I would be down for breakfast at 8 am. The room was clean and pleasant enough and I had a comfortable night's sleep. When I went for breakfast I was greeted by the housekeeper who offered me tea. I then heard her on the phone to the pub's owner, saying there was no Chef. She asked the owner to speak to me, but she wouldn't, leaving the embarrassed housekeeper to apologise and inform me that despite me paying in advance that there would be no breakfast. I was promised a refund, but the housekeeper wasn't authorised to refund my card payment. I was asked to leave my details to be refunded but by the end of the day I am still awaiting my refund.

Staff were lovely, as was the room. We couldnt fault it. It is a real gem, right in the middle of town. Worth paying for breakfast too. Lovely food and a great price.

Stayed at the Red Lion for a couple of nights whilst attending a wedding at Lympne castle which is less than 10mins by cab. Great family run pub, with super friendly and helpful staff and owners. We had a good clean room, as you might expect from an old inn, sloping floor etc. Good social friendly time in the bar in the evening with the landlord and locals. Breakfast was full English, was also good. I’d definitely go back if I was heading to that part of the country again.

We had a very warm and welcoming reception, but after that it was only going one way, down hill. The room was very basic and small with dirty sheets. Then the manager cut me and my fiancée off, after having an average meal. My fiancée and I were told we had enough and that we should leave. It was my birthday and being told at 47 I was staggering around after 4 pints is ridiculous. We booked in for 2 nights and to be honest we couldn’t wait to leave.

The staff is very friendly, but it is a pub with B&B: limitations. It is a location next to the channel crossing, but for seiht seeing I would choose a different location.

Attended a family wedding and booked this hotel as it was local to the venue. The facilities are shabby at best, rooms are quite clean but very poorly decorated and tatty furniture. We were in room 9 that had a drip!! All night I listened to a drip that I found eventually to be coming from the radiator! Breakfast is extra to your room cost and was ok. We were the only people in the restaurant and waited half an hour for our food. Overall the accommodation was very poor, the only redeeming factor was the staff who were fantastic and very helpful and polite.
