Very nice establishment, in the heart of Kairouan. Very pleasant breakfast on the terrace. Clean and well-maintained swimming pool. Professional welcome.

I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a Tunisia tour. Very nice and comfortable hotel. Room was comfortable, and had a fridge, good air conditioning, and comfortable bed. My room as had a door to the adjoining room so I heard everything the couple next door said and did... so ask for one without adjoining room. Breakfast was a huge buffet, tho' for the three days, they did not start exactly at the designated time. The pool area was a nice place to unwind and I really enjoyed feeding the adult cat (and a very tenacious kitten) while there. Please treat them well.

The hotel rooms were very dated. The beds were very uncomfortable. The shower was difficult because of how the shower head was positioned. It caused the floor to be flooded. The breakfast was very minimal with just the basics. They did have an omlet station and fresh orange juice. It looked like the pool was very nice but not heated.

Outward appearances belie the terrible service. Most disgruntled, rude people ever. The food is literally inedible. And I’m one to eat just about anything. Most of the food in the buffet is just recycled old uneaten stuff. I got fries with my sandwich that were limp, ice cold and probably from the dinner the night before. Find another place. Forgot to mention the nice big cockroach ( thankfully dead) in my bathroom.

I was very excited to be able to stay in a building with such a history and really looked forward to this night of our trip. The hotel itself is quite beautiful although the lobby was very cold when we arrived in the evening. I was glad that I didn't have to spend much time in it. Our room was very pretty and comfortable although there was only one outlet that I could find and it was located over the spare twin bed. Good thing we didn't have anyone else with us that needed to use that bed or they would've had to share it with our phone and camera batteries being recharged that night. Not very convenient. There is a desk in the room, but there isn't an outlet near it. The bathroom and the room for the toilet share one door and is configured that when we first went into the room, I couldn't find the toilet right away and thought that we didn't have one. It made for a couple of laughs once we figured out how the door worked. The rooms have a small enclosed balcony area which would be quite charming to sit out on if you were spending any amount of time in your room. The way the shower is plumbed, you have to stand in the center of the bathtub which I find a bit awkward and potentially a bit dangerous. But there was plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The only food we had here was the breakfast buffet. I can say it was adequate but definitely not the best we had compared to other hotels. I didn't have to deal with the staff here so I really can't comment on what type of service they provided or how helpful they would be. We only spent one night here. The pool area is quite beautiful and I can see where it would be enjoyable to out there in warm weather. I think this hotel is definitely worth staying at. So many beautiful architectural details throughout, as well!

Strange place which varies betwween very nice and curiously odd or bad. Most importantly in a hotel, I found the rooms themselves very nice and comfortable. Not really set up for couples though: one glass in bathroom, needs a second luggage stand, one hand towel, yet two bath towels. The grounds and lobby were clean and pool area is beautiful. Overall a pleasant stay. Lobby was very cold and drafty. Probably very nice in summer, but in winter it was unpleasant. And oddly, when the restaurant opens at 6:30AM, the lobby has no lights on. Just curious. The restaurant is the real downside. We ate at breakfast and dinner buffets. Pathetic is the best description. For a Tunisian hotel in a country that savors it's bread, the bread was uniformly dried out every day. We ate in streetside dives that had much, much better bread. Practically no fruit. Queer organization - orange juice in one place, glasses in another, resulting in a search. Breakfast items can run out - e.g. croissants, scrambled eggs - and dont seem to get replaced. Or something is there one day - e.g. stevia packets - and not the next. Soe of the dinner choices were curious - meatballs, lasagna, pizza. Tthe fish did not smell fresh. You can find food at the bnuffets, but it's not great. And if you're paying for it, some of the local restaurants may be better choice.

What wonderful historic hotel. The staff is friendly and the rooms are comfortable. We really enjoyed the Houka rooms where you can experience a fun atmosphere and service that is perfection. Great location with excellent restaurants nearby as well as excellent shopping.

Great stay! Very calm atmosphere at the pool with beautiful soft Oud-music in the background. Staff was polite and attentive. We especially enjoyed the moorish Café after dinner. The food was also really tasty! We would choose to stay in this hotel again for our next trip in Kairouan.

Very nice rooms, with a balcony. Staff were friendly and served us a last minute dinner buffet. Pool area was maintained and cleaned up though the few sun beds that there were seemed old and falling apart. Didn’t have chance to swim. Spa was excellent and good value for money.

Absolutely amazing stay, in an old medieval khalif castle (around fifteen century), modern renovated. Rooms a little smaller, but wonderfully decorated, also all public spaces, hallways and reception. Do not miss the tour of the museum, near the outside restaurant, it is absolutely amazing (sorry for repeating myself).

Like most of the hotels in Tunisia this one is a little dirt, a little outdated and amenities are non existent. That being said, the dinning room is pleasant, people are friendly and the pool area large. We stayed here 3 nights and it is in the middle of town. Easily within walking distance off the entire area. Shower was pleasant with lots of water pressure. Common areas were empty which made it easy to lounge and have coffee while watching a movie. It would have been nice if just one person spoke English. Considering this town is called the frying pan of Tunisia, the hotel worked

I was here on an Overseas Adventure Travel tour from the U.S. Five minutes walk from the back end of the Medina and ten from the front, this delightful, atmospheric hotel is within the walls of the old Kasbah. Incredible and attentive customer service. There is a serving bar in the enormous lobby, where having a beerbis a must. Rooms are good sized with Arabic tile and decor. The bath shower was "interesting" as it's rather deep. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style with a cook stand who prepares the specials of the evening. The Prime Minister stayed here my last night. Ignore the odd negativity, it was a terrific and memorable stay.
