A fairly nice hotel with fair, reasonable and affordable price in the area with accessible location, quite easy to be accessed by foreign travellers. The breakfast and dinner were not as good as expected and did not offering a range of nice food choices. Will be more than happy to recommend the hotel to all types of travellers.

The hotel has a great view, spacious rooms and a large bathroom. Although the facilities are a bit old, you can still see the former glory. The front desk is very welcoming, and there is a bus stop for the Shimotsui circular line of the Shimoden Company at the door. From the bus to the hotel, the overall service quality of the Shimoden Company is very high.

Can only describe this hotel as a ******* mansion or house of horrors. Our kids called it Luigi’s mansion lol. The smell of dust and mold was so bad that we had to check-out five minutes after check-in!! Everything about the place was horrific, the lobby was dark and dingy, the lights in the narrow hallways were out, the floors on the building were uneven, and the smell was just awful. The whole building is a health hazard and I cannot recommend anyone go near. I don’t know how the staff are able to work there. We checked out five mins after checking in and it felt like we escaping a horror house before the zombies came out! Didn’t even stay to negotiate a refund and could not drive away fast enough.

The check-in and check-out processes were quick and easy. The hotel looks new from the outside but carpets, walls, furniture, and rooms are dated. My big room had a great view of the hills, water, and bridge. The hotel is in the small village. The breakfast and dinner included in our room rate were good and tasty. We walked on the beach after the dinner and breakfast.

By chance, our stay coincided with a school trip for our elementary school. Thanks to that, we were able to get a nice room. The sunroom was as spacious as a Japanese-style room, and it even had a large balcony. It was a fantastic room with a view of the Seto Inland Sea. The meal was delicious, a multi-course meal, and it took a long time for the food to come out, so we had a great dinner where we could enjoy conversation. We were told in advance that breakfast would be a bento, but the bento box was packed with side dishes, and the rice and soup were prepared separately as hot dishes. I think if we bought it as a regular bento, it would cost more than 3,000 yen.

The location is good, but the dinner was unsatisfying. There was no explanation of the dishes, and the solid fuel was left unattended. The breakfast bento was prepared, but it was poor. Is it the kind of bento that a hotel can provide? The hot water in the jacuzzi in the room was a maximum of 30°C. Is this something they are selling at this time of year? The sign "Women only..." near the entrance to the open-air bath seems to have been left out. It is my fault for not noticing the entrance to the open-air bath when I checked out, but the overall guidance was lacking. I hope that the manufacturer will inspect the safety equipment, especially the more visible ones. It is good that you can go directly to the private beach from the first floor.

The walls were thin, so I went to bed early with my child, but the noise from next door woke me up around 11pm. I contacted the front desk at midnight, and they seemed to have warned me, and after that it got quieter, so I was able to sleep.

Breakfast was at the top of the mountain with a great view. The porridge was easy on the stomach and very satisfying.

We found a room for five people and stayed at Shimoden Hotel. The view from the room was great.

The room had not been cleaned at all, including the table. The table was covered in dust. It was a shame because we had come all the way from Nagasaki to stay here on a family trip after a long time.

It can't be helped that the facilities are old, but they are not cleaned properly. Also, one of the fluorescent lights in the room had been removed, probably to save electricity, so it was dark. The staff were all nice and seemed to be reliable. However, I saw complaints from various places in the restaurant, probably due to a lack of staff, so I couldn't enjoy my meal. It's not the staff's fault, but perhaps a problem with the number of staff and the quality of the customers. It's a shame because the food was very delicious. I think they are in the process of recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, but I hope they will work hard to increase the number of staff and improve the quality of facility maintenance. Again, the location is great, the food is great, and the staff are working hard. I think it was just a coincidence, but the quality of the customers is quite poor. If there is a next time, I would like to use the outdoor BBQ.

The sea is right in front of the hotel, perfect for small children to play, and there were parents and children fishing. The building is a little old, but the service was friendly and nice. We accidentally had dinner at 6:30, so unfortunately we missed the beautiful sunset. Dinner was delicious with a wide variety of dishes, and the large public bath was spacious and clean. If we have the chance, we would like to stay here again.

The location and facilities are typical of a hot spring hotel. The food was just like the food you'd expect at a traditional Japanese inn. However, the ocean view rooms overlooking the Seto Inland Sea and the Great Seto Bridge were quite nice. There was also a small pier and a sandy beach on the beach in front of the hotel, as well as facilities for glamping, so I think it could be interesting depending on how you use it.
