Daimaru is accommodation that can provide meals and has a shuttle service to the Naeba Ski Resort

The room was clean and tidy, and the location is very close to Naeba Ski Resort. The guesthouse offers a shuttle service every day, but even if you miss it, it's only a 5-10 minute walk back. The owners are a Chinese couple who have lived in Japan for many years; they are very warm and provide excellent service, which is especially convenient for Chinese travelers who don't speak Japanese. Thanks again to the owners for their warm hospitality, and for the delicious food (Gochisousama deshita)!

The ski-in/ski-out access to the hotel was incredibly convenient, making it a one-stop shop for dining, entertainment, and relaxation. Although the room was small, it was well-equipped, and the view from the window was quite lovely. My only issue was the incredibly loud noise from some equipment that started around 6 AM each morning, waking me up three days in a row. Additionally, the hotel's dining options were all pretty mediocre and not great value for money.

We were in Hoshi Onsen 25 years ago, and we loved it so much that we decided to visit it once more during our recent Japan trip. Hoshi is one of the most traditional and older onsen in Japan, with more than one hundred years of history. Walking in its corridors or lingering in Hoshi-no-yu (the main indoor bath) you can really feel as if time had completely stopped and as you have plunged in a remote era. Yet it provides any possible comfort. Important renovations have been made, but always with great taste and respectful of tradition. Dinner is excellent and also the open air bath is really beautiful. The surroundings are also very nice and deserve a walk. It is a bit expensive, but no doubt worth the price

This time I want to ski in Naeba for 5 days. One night of Naeba Prince Hotel is full. I chose this hotel as the nearest hotel. Because the price is half cheap and I do n’t want to change the hotel every day, I directly booked 2 nights because I took 2 people. Children under 6 years old stayed. The hotel said that when I booked, there was no child. Actually, I could n’t choose a child. I was thinking that I would make up the difference then. When I checked in, the shop owner said that I would charge twice as much as the annual price ( Take out the New Year's Eve price list), so the total price of one plus even surpassed the Naeba Prince Hotel, which cost more than 1,500 a night. And if you want to charge 2 more people, open another room for me. So the experience is: large hotels usually write as much as they do, and they do n’t charge extra, but small hotels have a lot of variables, and there is a large gap in facilities and services. There is no mineral water, no boiling water equipment, and the heater has to be turned on after entering the room. You can only take a shower at night every day, and you have to say in advance that brushing your teeth and washing your face are in public places outside the room. Although the small hotels in Japan are very hygienic, and the couples are very attentive, but for the same price of more than 1,500, you will understand how to choose.
With a stay at Little Japan Echigo in Yuzawa, you'll be near ski lifts, within a 10-minute drive of Naeba Ski Resort and Okukiyo Powerhouse. This spa hostel is 11.3 mi (18.2 km) from Gala Yuzawa and 0.1 mi (0.1 km) from Kagura Tashiro Ski Resort.
Take time to pamper yourself with a visit to the full-service spa.
Enjoy a meal at the restaurant or snacks in the hostel's coffee shop/cafe. Quench your thirst with your favorite drink at the bar/lounge. Continental breakfasts are available daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM for a fee.
Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities.

Such a cozy place! Free laundry and hot drinks were much appreciated. There is a fireplace in the common area and a storage room for ski/snowboard equipment. I topped up for the meal plan and the food was great, but the cooking amenities are sufficient for those who wish to bring ingredients and cook their own food.
Only thing was that the mattress was a little thin, but I only stayed 2 nights so it wasn't really a big issue to me.
Very Good

Amazing
KKibiwottOne of the loveliest ryokans we've ever stayed at in Japan, wish we stayed for longer. Every part of the hotel is so beautiful and serves as a lovely photo backdrop.
There is a lounge with coffee/tea in the mornings and alcohol and snacks in the evening. There is also a playroom (suitable for infants to 6years old).
Service is top notch, everyone is so helpful and friendly. Extremely easy to communicate with them as the staff can speak English well. They gave us a map and told us where we could go for food or to the ski resorts and gave a lot of local advice.
They provide all the amenities you need. They even have rain boots that you can borrow and wear in case your shoes are not waterproof. It snowed heavily while we were there and the staff are super attentive - they asked where we were headed to and suggested for comfort, that we wear the hotel's rain boots as they knew my partner's shoe wasn't waterproof/suitable to walk through the snow.
Rooms are very clean, big and comfortable (only that the futons are a little thin).
The onsens are rather small, but the outdoor onsen is so beautiful.
They provide a shuttle service to the train station (upon request) , although it is a relatively short walk - 5mins - and easy to walk if there is no snow. 7 eleven right next to the train station and New Days inside the train station.
We loved every single thing about this charming lovely hotel and we will definitely be back if we are in Echigo Yuzawa.
GGuest UserThe best stay ever with exceptional service and super gorgeous room + private onsen. We enjoyed a complimentary welcome drink and dessert before they showed us to our room. The loft style japanese room was stunning, decorated with tasteful details. The best part was of course the onsen, we could watch snow as we enjoyed the soak. There was also a massage chair in the room haha.
The breakfast that we added on was really delicious too. The hotel provides pick up service to and fro train stations nearby, make sure to check with them prior to your arrival.
Something that warms our hearts is their quality service, e.g. they would warm our shoes before we head out as it was snowing outside etc.
Location wise, it's very near to Gala Yuzawa station. However, I think most restaurants are closer to Echigo Yuzawa station. So we would take a short walk there every night for dinner instead.
AAnonymous UserGreat ryokan to stay in if you are skiing in the echigo yuzawa area. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you to most of the ski slopes via the blue line/route shuttle bus. The rooms are big enough (japanese tatami style) and the onsens are wonderful to use after a day out in the mountains. The only issues I had were the laundry washing and drying coin machines. There are only 2 washers and 2 dryers. The cost is much higher than other hotels we have been to, and the dryer was unable to dry our clothes fully. The clothes were roughly 70-80% dry, to which we hung it in our room overnight to air dry. That being said, I would still choose to stay here again as the convenience and location are unmatched.
RRona LiA truly enjoyable stay with beautiful views and a wonderful atmosphere
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The view from the room was amazing, and the Japanese-style room added a special touch that made the experience feel authentic and relaxing. I also loved the library and the overall cultural atmosphere of the hotel -- it created a calm and inspiring environment.
The movie experience offered by the hotel was a great addition and made the stay even more memorable. Breakfast was also excellent: very nice, beautifully presented, and delicious.
Overall, it was delightful stay, and I would love to come back again.
Bbesty_5029The room was a bit dated, but the main issue was how uncomfortable the duvet was. They just had a sheet under the duvet instead of the duvet being properly covered with a duvet cover. The sheet kept getting tangled at night and wouldn't stay tucked in. The hotel's main advantage is its own ski resort. While not huge, it's perfectly fine for beginners, and only allows two-plank skiing. Plus, the hotel includes ski tickets, and there's a ski rental shop nearby, which is quite convenient. A slight annoyance was that check-in isn't until 3 PM; we arrived at 2:30 PM and had to sit in the lobby until 3. The large public bath was spacious and good for showering. On a side note, on our way back, the shuttle bus was full, so the hotel sent a separate minivan for my family, which was excellent! We really felt valued!
XXiyanxiaoxiaoThe hotel's location is excellent. You can see the Yuzawa Grand Hotel nestled on the mountainside right from the west exit of Echigo-Yuzawa Station. It's about a 5-minute walk, though the large, steep slope at the hotel entrance requires careful walking, especially after a snowfall in Echigo-Yuzawa and when pushing luggage, to avoid slipping.
We booked a Japanese/Western-style room, and the hotel gave us a room on the 7th floor of the South Wing, directly facing the station. The views were absolutely superb, especially the distant mountains after a snowfall – truly the 'Snow Country' I'd imagined. The room had two beds, and a futon was set up in the Japanese-style area, making it perfect for families with two children on a ski trip.
There are two onsen (hot springs) on the hotel's first floor, and the open-air bath is particularly memorable, especially when you catch a heavy snow while soaking outdoors. An unforgettable experience!
The hotel exudes the charm of an established onsen hotel, with attentive and meticulous service. Yukata and towels are changed daily. Although the facilities show their age, they are still perfectly functional, especially the in-room mini-bar/sink area, which was convenient for eating bentos in the room after skiing each day. Oh, we didn't book breakfast or dinner; we got all our meals from the convenience store inside the station and nearby restaurants.
The hotel's excellent service was also evident in many small details, such as the free rain boots at the entrance and the weather forecasts for various ski resorts. I particularly recommend the ski rental shop right outside the hotel; they have a great attitude, reasonable prices, and the ski gear and helmets are all very new.
In summary, it was a very satisfying stay in every aspect. If I come back to Echigo-Yuzawa during the ski season, I will definitely stay here again!
GGuest UserI can't give this a good review!
I've stayed at so many ryokans with dinner and breakfast included, but this Futaba really left a lot to be desired! First off, the guy at the front desk checking us in was so quiet, he didn't even give us the most basic information like which floor the hot springs were on; he just handed us an all-English hotel guide. Second, this is the only onsen hotel I've ever stayed in where the bathroom smelled, and even the carpet in the entryway by the toilet had a urine smell... Then, the hot spring was just a regular public bath, and there wasn't even an ice pop after soaking. Finally, when we left, the staff didn't help us bring our luggage from the lobby to the shuttle bus. I had to drag it to the bus myself, and then the staff finally came out to open the door and help us load it in. (We were the only family on the bus at the time) It's just a really hard experience to rate...
GGuest UserEverything about the service was top-notch.
The food was all delicious, and there was plenty of it to fill you up, with kaiseki cuisine even including sake, and the option to choose one dish from the menu.
After 10 PM, they offer a late-night snack called 'yonaki soba' (night-time ramen). It's quantity-limited, so when I went a little before 10 PM, many people were already waiting. The dining area has limited seating, but takeaway was an option, so I ate it in my room.
From ice cream after a bath to Yakult in the morning, I was never hungry and felt full the entire time I was at the inn. It was wonderful.
The breakfast was also voluminous, and you could have unlimited rice.
There's also a private bath. While it doesn't have a showerhead, it's a perfect space to spend time with a loved one. It was available when I went in the evening.
Overall, I was surprised by how few Japanese guests there were; most seemed to be Chinese or other Asian guests.
I'd like to stay here again when I go skiing.
AAKLTGreat value for money, very satisfied overall.
1) Convenience store nearby
2) Ski rental shop nearby
3) Acceptable walking distance to the Shinkansen station
4) Daily room cleaning service
5) The owner is very kind and friendly
6) Laundry room and drying facilities for clothes and ski gear available
7) Would be even more perfect for ski enthusiasts if they had a car
JJCjiexiJCWe booked this hotel with the whole family to meet up with friends for a ski trip. It's an older hotel that recently reopened, and the facilities are decently maintained. If you're looking for a super luxurious experience, this might not be the place for you. However, the number of rooms and the space are quite generous for Japan, and all basic facility needs are met. Plus, there's an onsen and open-air bath on the top floor, which was incredibly therapeutic after a day of skiing. The front desk staff were all sweet, kind young women who spoke Chinese and provided thoughtful and attentive service throughout our stay. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the Orange/Blue line, making it easy to get to the ski resort and the train station. The family room offered excellent value for money and comes highly recommended.
