5 Grande Rue

Great in every respect - food (evening meal and breakfast), room and bedding, location. Warm welcome from Gavin and Lori. The house is wonderfully furnished with traditional French style. We were there in March before the garden had come out of hibernation.

5 Grande Rue 14 Apr 2023 In a word, Fabulous! We enjoyed a one night stay with Lori and Gavin in their lovely house. We were met by Gavin who took us through the check-in process ie an introduction to the house and services. We stayed in room 1, a superior double. It is a lovely room overlooking the garden and swimming pool and contains the most comfortable bed/mattress that we have used in a long time. The bathroom is fully equipped with a huge modern shower and lovely large bath linen. Varied drinks, a kettle and biscuits are made available in a communal area adjacent to the bedrooms. Breakfast was superb! The usual breads were accompanied by homemade jams, croissants, yoghurt, cereals, teas, coffee and a hot chocolate to special order! To end where I started.... Fabulous!!

On a return visit we were warmly welcomed by our hosts Lori and Gavin with a cool drink by the pool after a long hot drive. The house is beautifully and tastefully decorated with lots of Lori's 'little touches'. Our room overlooking the garden was spacious, spotlessly clean, with a super comfy bed and great en suite. Breakfasts were plentiful with yummy homemade jams and marmalade. Lori and Gavin went above and beyond to make our seven night stay comfortable, making restaurant reservations and suggesting places of interest to visit. We can highly recommend 5Grande Rue - You will not be disappointed.

Charming friendly hosts who were very welcoming. We had 2 lovely overnight stops in this lovely comfortable B&B in Le Lude a pretty village. The rooms are all individually decorated with nice en-suite bathrooms. Breakfast is served in friendly communal dining room which is beautifully decorated. There is an inviting outdoor pool and seating area and nice safe enclosed parking. We were fortunate enough to have a 3 course supper provided on our initial night which was delicious.

A wonderful place to spend a night on our return journey to London. Gavin and Lori are very warm and welcoming and relaxed. The house is beautiful and characterful. The beds are incredibly comfortable; the denseness that only comes from expensive gorgeous mattresses well that’s what they’re like. Lovely fresh bed linen. It’s all very clean, very spacious and comforting. Just what we needed. We had rooms 2 and 3 which were adjoining. Our children’s twin beds were also incredibly comfortable with crisp bed linen. The breakfast room was a slice of French life - colourful decor at a large beautifully laid table. Delicious. Gavin and Lori clearly work very hard to make this seem effortless. Bravo!

Very comfortable room in this lovely B&b with secure off road parking. Gavin and Lori made us very welcome after a long journey, beers served whilst sitting by the pool. Tea and coffee making facilities available for guests. The breakfast is very good, various breads, croissants, fruit, yoghurt, homemade jams and not forgetting the delicious homemade banana bread. The chateau in the village is superb. Will definitely return if we are in this area again.

Perfect place for a pit stop on the way to the Dordogne. Comfortable clean rooms (two interconnecting rooms for a family of five) and a warm welcome and lovely breakfast. Gavin kindly booked dinner for us in local pizzeria. Le lude lovely town to stroll round for an evening.

What a lovely place to stay! Lori greeted us warmly and showed us to our very spacious, beautifully appointed room. This traditional French house has been sympathetically restored and furnished and is a very relaxing place to stay. Our bed was very comfortable (so important!) and there was a large walk-in shower. Lori had been kind enough to upgrade us to this room following a problem with my foot, and it was much appreciated. The common areas in and outside the house are characterful with lots of brightly coloured cushions and interesting objects. There's a small heated pool with cosy seating areas around it, and I think a guest lounge too for cooler days. There's a handy tea and coffee station shared by the guest rooms with teapots and trays, so you can enjoy your cuppa in the privacy of your room. Private parking is provided, and the charming village of Le Lude is a few steps away with a choice of eateries, shops, etc Breakfast is wonderful and includes,unusually for France, a choice of cooked eggs. Home-made breads and jams and fresh fruit make this a hearty start to the day. We'll certainly return when we can!
