We had a wonderful stay! The service was exceptional—staff were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The breakfast was a highlight, with a delicious variety of fresh options that catered to all tastes. This hotel is incredibly kid-friendly, Highly recommend for families looking for a stress-free and enjoyable stay!

What an enjoyable stay at the Santo Mauro Hotel in Madrid. The swimming pool was not available but everything else was perfect.

The rooms are generally a bit old, but the rooftop garden is a nice touch. However, several of the restaurant staff in the garden couldn't speak a word of English, and the food service was quite slow.

My one concern when booking my room was Santo Mauro’s location; I feared it might be too far from the Prado and other sights we panned on seeing. As it turned out, the hotel’s location is another attribute (in addition to character, comfort and great service) that make it special. Its upscale neighborhood is quiet and safe and a nice place to retreat to after a day of sightseeing. There are several cafes and restaurants nearby offering the chance to experience the cosmopolitan side of Madrid. And the walk to Prado (it’s a short cab ride for those who don’t want to walk) is a pleasant stroll along the Paseo. This is a special hotel and I’ll definitely stag there again if I return to Madrid.

Beautiful, luxurious hotel with good location, exceptional front desk staff. I used upgrade certificates for a suite (room 050) which I wish I did not waste them on. While the room looked nice, there was a strong sewage odor throughout the stay. The hotel explained it was due to the age of building and they did try and mask it with sprays, which was uncomfortable and overwhelming. A room change was offered on the last day but wasn't practical. Love the hotel and staff, however, I recommend avoiding the room the Duchesse's put her in-laws in (Room 050) - (I see why she put them there)!

Beautiful hotel, historic, quiet, elegant and the most delightful, helpful staff. Would happily return again. The atmosphere is very quiet though you are close to all Madrid has to offer. Nice place to get our internal clocks adjusted our first day in Spain.

An absolutely beautiful hotel, very well located in a great, walkable neighborhood. The hotel makes you feel as if you are staying at the home of your very (very) rich grandmother. It feels more like a swanky, elegant private club or extraordinary private residence than it does a hotel. The staff is top notch as is the breakfast. I'd stay here anytime. A++++

Absolutely fantastic! The hotel is gorgeous with elegantly decorated salons and the rooms comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast every morning for five days and the service was professional and nothing but exceptional. The concierge and front desk were welcoming and so attentive that set the tone for a lovely long stay. They surprised us with a Roscon one evening for “Reyes” and it was absolutely delicious and made us feel included in the local celebrations. Without a doubt, we would love to come back to the Santo Mauro hotel in our next visit to Madrid.

The Santo Mauro is a beautifully restored and well-maintained palace with each room and suite donning a unique interior design. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by name by each department in which you interact reflecting the boutique feel of this lovely hotel. I was lucky to stay over New Years and definitely felt that my loyalty to the brand mattered. A lovely bottle of Laurent-Perrier Champagne and twelve lucky grapes to bring in the New Year! The concierge team is one of the very best with superior and prompt service and response to inquires and requests. Shoutout to Ingrid, Abagail, Ana, and Carmen. This hotel is in a quieter district yet within walking distance to many local attractions. The best of both worlds. Be careful — you just might want to move in full-time like a Duke or Duchess! 😊

What a fabulous hotel that has kept its authentic palatial feel and ambience. Fantastic staff, especially Abigail on reception who could not be more helpful right from checkin to departure. The waiting staff in the hotel were also very good as was the food in the Biblioteca, the Dukes library . Favorites were the Anchovies and tomato bread, Sweetbreds and the Stone fish. Rooms were unique and with great coffee table books to browse and beds very comfortable. Well worth a visit.

What a beautiful hotel with great staff and attention to detail. Particular mention to the fabulous Isabelle who checked us in and showed us the room and took care of all our requirements with a winning smile..Top class! A unique palace experience.Food in the Biblioteca restaurant just fantastic…Sweetbreads were my favorite , , anchovies and tomatoes bread, steak with Foie Gras and the Stone fish were also excellent . Staff and surrounding great, a real treat.

Absolutely beautiful hotel located in a quiet neighborhood. Staff was excellent. Property has spectacular outdoor spaces and garden to enjoy. Only negative is the food was delicious, but extremely expensive. We enjoy staying on property for breakfast but it was $55 per person. Continental breakfast is an option, but still over priced.

This was, without a doubt, one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. Everything was superb from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. It’s a relatively small boutique luxury hotel set in an old royal palace. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and very well appointed. The lobby is elegant, yet quaint, with nice seating areas to relax or to have a drink. The inside restaurant is set in an impressive library. The outside restaurant is set in a beautiful courtyard. It has the ambiance of a countryside chateau. The service throughout our stay was outstanding in every way. The staff knew us by name, were extremely friendly, and consistently went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. They helped with directions, recommendations, transportation, and reservations. We can’t say enough good things about this hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience, and will definitely look to stay here again if we return to Madrid.
