The property is well located and good quality, but out-dated and in some areas underwhelming given the price Staff are very welcoming, attentive and do a good job Areas of concern: the ski-storage area is undersized and agricultural given the class of hotel, with basic cages and no heating room or obvious place for changing and fitting skis other than in the main entry which is crowded and wet; the spas and pool facility is great but not available even for teenage kids which is not well advertised and given they seem to allow any old riff-raff from the slopes in to the facility I don't understand why paying guests who can behave themselves albeit are under the age of 18 cannot join; the drying facilities in room are too small and co-located with the bin! Internet facility is hopeless and anyone using a work device that has any level of security may as well bring a typewriter with them; meals in signature restaurant are good, but the room could do with more atmosphere; the happy hour offering is good!

It was our first stay at Breathtaker and it was a mixed experience, mostly negative. To start with the positives, the spa was beautiful and a really lovely space and the location of the hotel was brilliant. The car service up the mountain albeit expensive was good. Negatives: - the included breakfast was appalling, little to no selection or variety, not filled up half the time we were constantly asking to restock items. The staff were inattentive, and provided no table service. We had to get up to ask staff for a barista made coffee (supposedly included) and were told to make it ourselves. - the loft bar and sitting area closed at 8pm when around 20 or so hotel guests were watching the AFL game and drinking at bar. We were kicked out mid match. totally unacceptable. - fine you say, watch the game in your room, well, the tv was behind the bed meaning we would have to stand up to watch the tv in our room, attached, photo, RIDICULOUS! - the room was also SOO small, we could barely fit all our gear, and as snow people know there are big jackets puffers snow shoes etc and we simply had no space, it was cramped and uncomfortable. - the staff were inattentive, and were more interested at drinking and socialising. we witnessed staff get drinks from the loft bar which is for guests and discuss leaving their shift early to go out and drink. - finally, the pool table in the hotel guests only area had to be paid for to be used. outrageous. This hotel is not worth the money and we left extremely underwhelmed and disappointed.
Response from Property: Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay with us at Breathtaker Hotel & Spa. It is disappointing that you didn’t enjoy your time with us and to learn about it on social media. We encourage all our guests to provide feedback during their stay so we have a chance to improve if something isn’t quite right. During your stay with us, you had a number of specific requirements due to your work commitments and we endeavoured to provide the best possible options. On the first night, as the Loft Bar was closed, we worked with you to provide another suitable lounge area in a private room (given that you felt the TV was not positioned appropriately in your Studio Apartment). On the second night, we kept the bar open with staff until after the NRL game, with no drinks being served for 2 hours before closing. On the night of the AFL game, you arrived at the bar after we had closed, and the last group of seven guests, staying in-house who were external contractors working on the mountain for the week, were returning to their rooms. The general discussion you may have overhead was a friendly conversation between our staff and guests about other venues late-night venues which may be open on the mountain. We do encourage guests to use the common areas during their stay and are aware that the rooms are on the smaller side. We more than try to compensate for this by trying to provide the best experience for our guests with Barista Coffee, a Buffet breakfast that has a wide selection of hot and cold options, including an assortment of cereals, fruit platters, smoked salmon, individual yoghurt and bircher muesli, croissants, Danish’s, assorted toast, and the hot selection which changes daily but generally includes; scrambled eggs, poached eggs, bacon, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, pancakes & mixed beans. We restock the buffet consistently through the breakfast period between 7.30am and 10am, however, there are moments when it will take the chefs a few minutes to prepare additional top-up items. We have two coffee options available at breakfast, a Dura Coffee Machine for those who like to make their own, and additionally, Barista Coffee is available in the Loft Bar free of charge during breakfast. The Hotel, as you mention, has a range of additional facilities for in-house guests, including a Loft Bar, Kids room, Family spa, and Day spa, which are all available free of charge for our guests to use. We hope that if you choose to stay with us again, any issues you may have during your stay can be promptly brought to our attention so we are able to address the issue at the time.

We are currently staying in room 307 and is as cute as a button. The room was beautiful and warm for our mid afternoon arrival yesterday and was spotlessly clean. We used the hotel transfer service and our driver was an amazing man who shared so much knowledge about the area, the hotel and what to expect. The young man who checked us in and showed us to our room was also so very helpful, showing us where things where on the way. We enjoyed drinks in the bar in the early evening and having the kitchen in our apartment meant we could heat some soup and rolls for dinner. Being the opening weekend and a long weekend the hotel yesterday and this morning was quite busy but the staff handled everyone with patience, calmness and professionalism. We had an amazing night sleep in the super comfortable beds and fluffy doonas and the room stayed warm all night long. Heading down to try the spa shortly as it looks divine.

Booked a massage & facial with lunch experience and what a treat it was. Fabulous staff who were awesome to deal with, friendly, knowledgeable & just lovely. My masseur Evie did a wonderful job with soothing my sore muscles & my facial was excellent. I then spent some time in the pool & spa afterwards, then headed up to restaurant for lunch with a glass of bubbles. Would do it all again if ever back here.

Staff are super friendly and cool. Great location and amenities for a snow hotel. :) Small rooms of course being in the snow. Nice bar and restaurant. Ski hire next door at Grimus. The spa could be hotter! But overall really impressed. Thank You.

Had a good stay at the hotel, and found the crew friendly and ready to assist with any queries. Drivers were also very helpful. the lounge bar was lovely to chill out in. the room was clean and had everything we needed. The delivery of breakfast to the room and complimentary drinks in late afternoon was also a lovely touch. We didn't get to dine at Signature as it was closed on certain days but the views looked amazing from the restaurant. Overall, a good stay at the Breathtaker.

Well taken care of, close to the ski slopes, cosy rooms, friendly staff, convenient food options, great breakfast delivered to the rooms. Luggage and ski storage, accommodating if you arrive early and plan to depart late by storing the luggage.

Breathtaker Hotel & Spa at Mt Buller was indeed breathtaking! We were a party of 4A2C and it was our first time at a ski resort. We spent 3D2N thru the beginning of the season. We had planned for the trip 6mths in advance to ensure a memorable trip for the young and old. And we are certainly glad we chose Breathtaker. Pre trip, we were slightly taken by their rates and how fast they were booked out. We asked plenty questions and Breathtaker’s folks were always prompt with their replies. Kaidi & Anne were patient and their service level assured us that we made the right choice booking our stay with them. We enquired about driving up the mountain ourselves, figuring out parking at the property to eventually booking their transfer service from The Sebel to take us safely up Mt Buller. Transfer service was great! Drivers were welcoming, helped with our luggages and settled the kids in the vehicle. Drive was smooth and we enjoyed the sights without worrying for our safety. During our stay, every staff we met greeted us with gusto. Thank you Jaime & team! Breathtaker is a cosy property without elevator/lift. We booked a 2-bedrm apt and it served us well. The attached kitchenette worked great for us - we were able to whip simple meals for times we stayed in. Facilities were great too - we love the kids playroom on level2. We loved the happy hour service at Loft Bar as well as the food served at the Signature Restaurant. So good! We’d love to be back!
