The hotel has a very beautiful view. Munich's New Town Hall is right outside the window. The hotel service is also good.

Excellent location and view

⸻ Excellent location — but absolutely not a 5-star hotel experience The hotel has an excellent location, directly above Marienplatz, which is by far its main advantage. However, guests should know that this is a very small hotel with only 19 rooms, located on the 5th and 6th floors of an office building. From the outside, it is almost impossible to tell there is a hotel there. Cars and taxis also cannot reach the entrance, as the area is closed to traffic. The drop-off point is about 100 meters away, which is manageable, but not very convenient with several suitcases. The hotel presents itself as a luxury 5-star property, but in our experience it does not provide anything close to that level. The main issue was the clear lack of staff. During many hours of the day, especially in the afternoon and evening, there was only one staff member at reception, responsible for welcoming new guests, showing rooms and handling all guest requests at the same time. Our room was modern and comfortable, but there was no kettle or coffee machine. The refrigerator in the room was broken, and even after a technician came, it was not fixed. Since we had essential personal items that needed refrigeration, I had to store them in the general kitchen refrigerator and wait each time for the only staff member at reception to bring them to me. I asked to speak with a manager about possible compensation, but although I was told the matter would be handled, nobody got back to me. Housekeeping also did not feel like a 5-star hotel: no evening service, no turndown service, no proactive towel replacement. Breakfast is served in a small area with armchairs and low tables, which also did not feel like a luxury hotel experience. This is not a bad hotel: the location is excellent, the room was pleasant, and some staff members were kind. But the service and operation are absolutely not suitable for a 5-star luxury hotel, especially at the very high price we paid. Anyone booking should know what to expect

Good reviews everywhere however upon arrival the entrance did not exactly look imposing! Located on the 5th Floor (lift & stairs) the actual hotel entrance was better however not exactly 5* compared to big chains. As usual passports were required however I found it disconcerting that they also wanted to keep my credit card during the check in process (I declined). Described as “luxury boutique” with 19 rooms. Ours was a very nice room, great central location overlooking the old town hall, good for shopping / sightseeing etc. In room mini bar was nothing much, comfortable bed / linen, nice shower / bath (junior suite), decent soundproofing. Good sized TV (BBC / Sky). Decent working desk, library, nibbles available too. Our room was up a stairway (disabled access??). There was no magnifying vanity mirror in the bathroom (the hotel website states there is a makeup mirror provided. My wife asked for one however it never arrived). Overall the location is great, room size was good but you have to question whether it really is 5*; not at all bad but for the money it’s questionable.

What an amazing place to stay! Centrally located right near Marienplatz, friendly and helpful staff, and great rooms and amenities. Jana was so helpful when we arrived straight off our international flight at 7:00 am and everyone made us feel so welcome. My teenagers loved it, we loved watching the Glockenspiel through the open windows and we were sad to leave everyone behind after a week there. My family and I highly recommend!

This boutique hotel is distinguished first by the friendly, helpful staff who pampered me from the start. It’s a lovely space with about twenty very private rooms, despite each opening onto the common areas. One of these has a bank of windows looking out at the clock tower, another an interesting video art installation. Breakfast is served until noon, a light lunch or dinner is also available. My room had a balcony and looked out on Alter Peter, Munich’s oldest church. I was there at Christmas and enjoyed the Christmas Market in the square.

This was our fifth stay at Beyond by Geisel and hopefully it won’t be my last. This great hotel has the best location in Munich, facing and 1 minute walk to the Marienplatz area where you will find historic landmarks, restaurants and shop all around you. What makes this hotel different is the team led by the wonderful lady (Maren). They will go out of their way to serve you with pleasant and welcoming smiles. Special thanks go to Jana and Tobias. The pleasant atmosphere that the team creates in this hotel is even contagious to hotel guests. Now, a description of the hotel. It is a small hotel with only 19 rooms on 2 floors (5th and 6th floor of a building). All rooms are modern and comfortable. If this is your first stay at the hotel then you need to coordinate with them in advance to help you reach the restricted hotel entrance. If you already know the door to the hotel, then you can press the button near the door to allow you in, then you can take the elevator to the 5th floor where you will be met by the reception. Once checked I, you can use you room key for the restricted entrance door. The breakfast is not a buffet style. But I would advise to have it included in your booking because it includes most of what you need, and it is really of a high quality. For the other meals, I would suggest the many restaurants around the hotel, and the staff will be pleased to suggest some and make bookings if needed. The hotel a can also arrange for transportation to Munich Airport (euros 115) each way. Because it is a small 5 star hotel, you will feel at home. We are already looking forward to our next stay at the Beyond.

Very comfortable bed and superfriendly staff at hotel! They had complimentary coffee and tea and snacks out all day and night. Breakfast was also delicious! Neat looking hotel interior spaces where all the rooms are off of the common areas but still was not noisy. Best location right at Marienplatz!

Super service in THE BEST location. We had Room 1 - a spacious suite with a view of Marienplatz, the glockenspiel and the beautiful Christmas market. So atmospheric and a great vantage point. The windows are well insulated & there was absolutely no noise from the square below. The hotel occupies the 5th floor of a modern building and the entrance is a little unusual and out of the way. But once inside, the hotel is wonderfully stylish and chic. A great bar area for tea coffee & snacks and some of the best breakfast omelettes we’ve ever eaten. Special thanks to Sarah and Gertrude for all their help with restaurant bookings and taxis. We would heartily recommend to anyone wanting a luxurious central location in Munich.

Great location, very kind staff and homey look and feel with amazing view if you choose one. Only negative is probably the entrance and way to access the hotel. Need to rethink the entrance for this price point. It was also hard to find the entrance.

This hotel is in a perfect location near Marienplatz in Munich. We received a warm welcome from Gertrude and the team and a lovely welcome drink. Our room was fantastically spacious and views overlooking the square and the Glockenspiel! Breakfast also overlooking the square and fantastic service from the whole team. From arrival, the staff were amazing. Our taxi dropped us at a nearby street and it was a very short walk to the hotel. The hotel was well signed posted and we were greeted at the door (by chance) and shown up to reception. (You will need to buzz to gain access). The staff helped with our bags and gave us a welcome drink while checking us in. The room (#5) was clean and comfortable and just off a seating area. There was minimal noise from fellow guests and outside throughout the night. Breakfast was delicious with a lot of a la carte choices. Overall, a great place to stay.

We were very disappointed with our recent stay at Beyond by Geisel. The concept of the hotel is interesting in the form of a small modern boutique hotel located on the 5th and 6th floors of a building right in front on Marienplatz. In term of location it’s as good as it gets, very central within walking distance of most sites in central Munich. The entrance is a little difficult to locate however and is in a shared entrance on a side street, you have to locate the buzzer and go through a small unseemly corridor to get to the elevator. Unfortunately the concept of this hotel is also its main problem, all the rooms are directly connected to the common area and although the doors are heavy it’s extremely noisy. I’m actually amazed that no reviews are mentioning this issue because it’s major it’s pretty much a stay-ruining issue. You don’t hear a few louder noise YOU. CAN. HEAR. EVERYTHING. AT. ALL. TIME. Other reviews were pointing out that the street noise was effectively cancelled, that is partly true, however, it matters not since the street noise is completely drowned out by the noise coming at all times from the reception, kitchen, salon, library. I’m a light sleeper and I prepare accordingly but I was disturbed even with 35 db earplugs. Serious improvements need to be made in order to correct this issue. Other than that, the rooms are decently sized and comfortable and the furniture and floor are fitting with the decor and overall ambience. The bathroom is also of decent sized but in our deluxe room the shower was very small and since there’s no door on the shower the water was often soaking the shower mat. The breakfast service is quite redundant even with the gourmet menu it gets quite repetitive and their pastries are not great with croissant being consistently undercook. Service is attentive but can be inconsistent. Some of the personnel was very helpful and attentive other were courteous but nothing more. Overall I would say the service was adequate for this type of hotel but could be improved also.
