I booked this hotel as it was nearby and we needed a break away somewhere for my wife's birthday. First things first. Customer service is something that needs to be worked on a lot in this hotel. I left a message on the hotel reception and wrote a message to the hotel to leave 2 red wine glasses in the room for my wife's birthday. Unlike other hotels I have been in, there was no response and no birthday greetings. This is simply bad customer service. The greeting at the reception was friendly but certainly not genuine. There was no "how was your day"? "How was your drive to our hotel"? The same receptionist got the red wine glasses and marched up to the room without saying anything leaving both myself and my wife way behind going to the room. Customer service should be different. The next morning when we checked out, the same receptionist said thanks, took our key cards and did not bother to ask how our stay was. Just poor. It got worse. As I came down to order a drink (probably the worse selection of beers for a hotel in Ireland) I waited 5 minutes before anybody came over to me. The manager advised that somebody was coming but nobody did. Eventually a really nice guy served up the drinks and we had a conversation which was a good way to end that part. We decided to have dinner in the bar instead of the restaurant. Again basic customer service played a role. At first it was first class. The guy serving us was very quick, professional and friendly. Our food was brought promply. (It was an excellent dinner so hats off to the chef!) However after the main course, my wife ordered dessert which never came. The bill eventually came from an unhappy waitress. When we ordered drinks later on, they never came. When I asked, I was advised "We are busy, you will have to wait". The staff can be very hit and miss in this hotel. The room was lovely and comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. No complaints there! The shower is old but works brilliantly. The swimming pool was fine for a few lengths. The gym looks excellent but I did not have time to try it out. Evening dinner as I said was excellent. Breakfast was adequate. Nothing more or less. I would consider this hotel more 3 than 4 star. It was an experience but I don't think that I will be back in a hurry. There are plenty of other good hotels about.

We stayed for one night as a treat for the children over the Easter break. We got a fabulous huge family room (room 220) with three single beds for the children and a king size bed for us. The room was very impressive and spotlessly clean. We went for a swim before check in and found the pool to be really nice. Only issue is there were no locks on the lockers in the changing rooms which I wasn't too comfortable about. I noticed any locals who were there had brought their own mini padlocks so just a heads up for any future guests. We had both lunch and our evening meal in the conservatory bar which was lovely. The food is really very high quality, especially the dinner menu. I had a beautiful herb crusted salmon and my husband had the lemon chicken. It was absolutely gorgeous considering it was bar food, really high quality. Our only gripe regarding the service was regarding the manager in the conservatory bar who was maybe a little over enthusiastic about getting the best service for his guests. He was audibly instructing/ training the waiting staff in front of customers which seemed unnecessary. The waiting staff were actually great. Lorenzo served us and he couldn't have been more polite and friendly. All the loud instructions to the staff every few minutes was a bit excessive. The kids found it funny.  The same man couldn't have been nicer to the customers. Breakfast was lovely and the views from the Woodlands restaurant are just stunning. It's a beautiful hotel. We didn't get to do the fairy walk as the weather was so wet but hope to come back and stay again.

I'll start by saying this is one of the most relaxing hotels I have ever stayed in so far & I work in the hospitality industry so have stayed in quite a few places in the last year. From the moment we walked into the hotel we were totally chilled out, the receptionist greeted us so warmly and was really efficient at checking us in which we appreciated as we had just come from climbing The Great Sugarloaf so we just wanted to have a rest and relax. We stayed in room 329 which was right down the back, lovely and peaceful and all you could hear was birds singing when you opened the window. The room itself was large and the bathroom was all marble, there was a huge hole in the curtain in the room when we unhooked it to close them and I am not sure if the management knows about that. The hotel itself was spotless and I really liked that now I do think that parts of the hotel like carpets and curtains could do with an upgrade and some areas need painting but that didnt take away from our stay. The leisure centre was really a bonus and we spent the best part of an hour in there using the pool, jacuzzi and sauna and we spoke to a few people and everyone said they were having a great time and were relaxed. We ate in The Woodlands restaurant on the Saturday night and the food was delicous and lots of options, the breakfast was lovely too and I will say all of the staff in the hotel are so well trained, friendly and pleasant. There was a gentleman who had a fall in the breakfast room on the Sunday & the staff all came to help him and look after him. There is loads of parking too & you also have a sensory garden, outside areas to walk around and much more. My partner loved the hotel he said he felt so relaxed and wants to go back again and that he liked the fact no pubs are around for you to go to as you just spend time in the hotel, we did drink in the hotel bar Saturday night and there was entertainment which for the most part we enjoyed. Overall and amazing experience and we will back, I would just love to see the decor being looked at by management to bring the hotel back to what it used to be, I was in it for a wedding 15 years ago and it looked alot different but I think if that little issue was looked at it would be one of the best hotels in Wicklow.

From the drive up to Hotel, being greeted in reception, to going to our amazing room. The view is just outstanding at every turn. Food in the bar with views. Wine list extensive. Best affordable rates. Service so relaxed and beautiful food. Spotless clean and when your walk into lift the signage said Rest, relax, Rejuvenation. That is exactly what we did. Thank you so much. We will definitely be regulars.

Brilliant stay - staff were lovely. Food was tasty. Family room was spacious and clean. Swimming pool was lovely - had an ancient Roman feel with statues etc. We really enjoyed our stay. Gardens are pretty. Nice woodland walk on the grounds of the hotel.
