Agriturismo Podere Pescara

This is a gorgeous location just outside of the hilltop of Orvieto. The room and bath were large and comfortable, with a garden view, and nicely decorated. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety of food. The family that runs it was friendly and kind. I chose this place for the pool and hot tub, but it was closed on Oct. 6. You really do need a car to stay here as it is not a doable walk to Orvieto- the road has no path and is dangerous. What could be improved, the pillows and mattress could have been more comfortable and there were no screens on the windows, so a choice of fresh air with mosquitoes or using the air conditioning- not terribly eco friendly. Not having any food options at the hotel in the evening( dinner was not available in October)meant that you had to get in the car every night to go eat.

This is a small farmhouse, only five rooms, but it has everything you would want for a nice, relaxing, even romantic holiday. Great views from the gardens, quiet, comfortable, air-conditioned rooms with modern en-suites, a lovely small swimming pool with plenty of loungers and hammocks in the shade of olive trees. And a lovely breakfast buffet served in the garden under more trees. For us, the icing on the cake was the wonderful landlady, Valentina, and her daughter. When our car broke down and we were stuck for two days, not only did they take over the negotiations with the car-hire firm and the break-down service, but they also went over-and-above their duties in providing us with a delicious supper when we couldn't get ourselves easily to a restaurant.
