If I only spoke of the staff, this hotel is the most friendly, client-oriented hotel I've stayed in since Hawaii and I would give it a 5+ The rooms are clean and relatively newly done and the air-conditioning is well placed over the door in the little corridor in front of the shower room, meaning it doesn't blow directly on you into the main part of the room. On the other hand, there is no elevator. And while I don't mind running up & down 2 flights of stairs (it's a bit like home), it's very hard lugging up and then down a heavy suitcase. And there are no single rooms. A single must pay the price of a double, again being disfavored for not being part of a two-some. Yet, this room was in fact only comfortable for one, there being almost nowhere to put a large suitcase other than on the floor (giving up walking area) or on the desk. The hanging closet of about 50cm has only one hanger (although the staff will do their best to get you more if you ask) and there are only shelves but no drawers. Its location offers both the best and the worst of all worlds: Just across the street is a miles-long sandy beach; you only need to grab a towel & go. On the other hand, it is more than 2km from the main town area, and which makes for a very long walk there and back with almost nothing between the hotel and the port. Thus some sort of transportation becomes necessary for those who want to go out. But there is, about a km down the road, a bike renting shop which is very friendly. It is well worth renting a bike for your stay to go into town and back comfortably. And the hotel keeps one of its garages special for bikes so no worrying about leaving the bike when it is not in use. Besides, the Herault offers wonderful bike trails along the Lez and in the marsh areas and well worth taking the flat, well-laid-out paths around the area and even into Montpelier. If you have a car, there is parking at the hotel, but then the problem becomes parking in the port area when you arrive. The perfect solution for me was taking time at the beach every day and bicycling into town for at least one meal/day. While I definitely enjoyed my stay and appreciated the helpfulness of the staff, I've taken off a star for room size, the lack of an elevator and distance from the town.
