The hotel was a 5 min drive from petra away from the hustle. The staff were so friendly and helpful especially Khalid the restaraunt manager he went out of his way to ensure we got what we needed. The views from the hotel were amazing

The hotel sit atop a hill overlooking the desert hills - a wonderful view, about a 10-min. drive from the Petra visitor center. All the staff we met, from the security guards, to the bellman, the front desk, the restaurant - were just SUPERB. All of them. The lobby is inviting and warm, the restaurant is spacious and with lots of sunshine. Dinner buffet had a very nice variety and decent quality, yet overpriced. Breakfast had a wonderful variety with good quality. The room was very clean, and looked like it was built last year - very well maintained. Although the building looks very new, overall, the hotel is overpriced a bit. Overall, an excellent choice for Petra.

I originally booked this hotel, but the hotel upgraded me to another Movenpick in front of Petra, which was very convenient! ! ! !

The hotel is absolutely not a 5 star, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. Very nice view from the hotel, breakfast and buffet need improvement. Very friendly staff, generally recommended if on offer.

The location is on the top of the mountain and you can see the mountain view on the opposite side, but it is very windy, but if you drive by yourself, it is convenient. It takes less than 10 minutes to get to Petra. The hotel is relatively large, a bit old, and the breakfast is not good. 4 points

The hotel is on Petra Mountain. Don’t consider staying if you don’t drive or charter a car. It’s too far to go to Petra. I ate three meals in the hotel. The breakfast and evening buffets were decent. For lunch, I ordered hamburgers and pasta in the room. Larger room, mountain view, relatively empty outside

Nice hotel right across the street from the entrance to Petra. The rooms are very bright and pleasant) comfortable bed and pillows) the staff works quickly. The food is not the best, you can find something on the buffet, but it will not be great

When we arrived the security man told us the Grand Mercure is CLOSED for MAJOR renovation. He was helpful, but his English wasn't very good. But we worked out we had been rebooked at the Movenpick in town. We were a little disappointed as we had chosen this hotel for the view. However the Movenpick MORE than made up for it. The staff and the food was marvellous. We were upgraded and the room was wonderful. This is a review of Grand Mercure, but the Movenpick was fantastic. My tip is to have PRINTED LETTERS the guard can hand you, to tell you what to do and also send an email explaining the situation. We ended up getting a good deal, but it was somewhat confusing.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights while visiting Petra. Lots of reviews and YouTube vlogs recommended this hotel because of the view. Please don’t pick this hotel because of the view as that is all it really offers. Before booking, we researched and did our due diligence. Google Maps stated the hotel was a 7 min drive from Petra visitors centre. When we arrived those 7 mins were up a very very steep hill which you could not possibly walk into town in the evening if you wanted to. The hotel provide a shuttle bus, which is great- it leaves at 3 points during the morning to early afternoon and has 3 departures going back up the hill. If you need to go into town or miss the shuttle bus that is where the expense comes in. As Uber doesn’t operate outside Amman, you need to get a local taxi. For a short taxi ride the cost to go up the hill is 15-20JD (£17-23) which is outrageous. The hotel itself is old and very outdated which is why I mentioned not to solely book this for the view. If you like modern hotels as we do you will be disappointed. The Movenpick opposite the visitors centre is much newer, modern and a nicer hotel but double the price. In hindsight I would’ve booked there. We were greeted by Belal at reception- he was wonderful throughout our stay and so friendly. He couldn’t do enough for us and was very attentive. He also offered us an upgrade of room and later checkout. The suite we were upgraded to had a spacious bedroom and a large living area. The bathroom was tiny for the level of space in all other rooms so this was disproportionate. The room was clean but very outdated in terms of decor so were the communal areas (old carpet) and the dining area. This hotel is really in need of TLC and a revamp and I believe it’s taking advantage of all the tourists in Petra rather than maintaining a decent Movenpick standard. I’ve stayed in other Movenpick hotels in the world and this is the most run down one I’ve been to. On our first night we tried the buffet, this was 23JD (£26.05 pp). There was no selection in food and it was definitely a rip off. The dessert selection was beyond poor and we were very disappointed. One of the staff that was waiting on our table asked for feedback and we spoke to the duty manager, however when we expressed concerns about the lack of selection he replied “I know” rather than taking our feedback on board and saying he would act on it. Breakfast was also lacking in variety and options. If you’re a British customer and you are going to be using the TV, there aren’t any English speaking channels on the TV, not even BBC news. They have the option to cast your device but unfortunately this is only for Android users which makes no sense. As an iPhone user we couldn’t watch anything after a long day. There are two ways to look at this hotel, one - it is close enough to Petra but expensive to get a taxi to. The bad decor may not be a factor if you want something that isn’t going to break the bank as you w

Hotel is located 7-8 min drive from Petra Visitor centre. Which is perfect as it is away from the crowds and the downtown area on a nice peaceful road. the views are stunning as is the sunset. Helpful and efficient staff . They packed a breakfast for us the day we were going to Petra at 6:00 am. Rooms were good. air conditioning was a bit of a problem but they got it fixed so no complaints. Chocolate hour when we arrived was a great touch ..with a refreshing hibiscus juice. Would recommend this hotel

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as a solo traveler and one word sums up my stay “amazing” From the moment i checked in - everything was streamless. Front desk had my room ready on arrival, they had acknowledged i was a gold accor member and offered me a room upgrade and free drink. Room had a lovely view and fully equipped with everything i required; can’t fault it. The Service was impeccable throughout my stay; all staff (reception, restaurant/ bar, security) are extremely friendly, professional and really go out of their way to help. For example, one morning i had missed breakfast as i had left early to visit Petra, and on my return i was feeling hungry, so the Restaurant’s manager kindly offered me coffee and selection of pastries. On my last day i needed some painkillers and the lovely gentleman at reception gave me some. The hotel’s service is 5 star and i felt like royalty staying here. I would definitely return to this hotel and would also recommend it if anyone is staying in Petra.

Set high above Petra this hotel has amazing views. Sadly it was quiet as Americans have bailed due to the problems in Israel. We were looked after from the moment we arrived till the moment we left. Our room was OK but we were only there to sleep. We had a fabulous meal in the Bedouin tent on the first night. Friends joined us on the second night and were impressed (their hotel in Petra wasn’t so great). All in all a great stay in an amazing place.
