This was one of the most special island experiences I have had in my life. The service and staff are amazing and make sure to tend to your needs during your stay. The food is amazing, activities are plentiful, and direct access to surf breaks and nature is unmatched. This trip provided the opportunity to gain a real Fijian experience. The food portion sizes are plentiful and taste great. In terms of the surf, if you are looking for no crowds and perfect surf, this might be one of the most special places you can find in the world. The Maqai wave is near perfect and broke consistently for our entire week stay. Thank you Cathy for organizing our trip and special thanks to Navo our surf guide and Tui our boat driver for making the experience smooth, accommodating, and memorable. Highly recommend the island tour besides surfing if you are looking for some world class coral reef snorkeling.

Awesome place with awesome people. Shout out to Navo and Tui, they are the greatest of all time. Come for the surf, stay for the people. There was amazing food and multiple entertaining activities to fill the days. Not to mention a great surf break.

Paradise. We were treated like royalty , again.. The food is amazing, being serenaded to every night by the local staff with a cup or 2 of kava. rooms are quaint, clean , serviced daily, bed turned down every night. We are always made to feel like part of the family. Awesome waves with no crowds. They have a large selection of surfboards to suit everyone.Snorkelling trips,. trips to amazing waterfalls etc.James ,one of the staff just makes you smile every day . his bush medicine helped me so much when I injured myself. they are all so very obliging and always smiling. Once again, James is worth his weight in gold. His knowledge of the islands, their bush tucka, the medicines , history is awesome.Warm crystal clear water is so soothing. An amazing holiday destination for those who want great surf, awesome diving etc and just plain relaxing on a tropical paradise . we cannot recommend it highly enough.

amazing experience June 2023 A wonderful place. our best choice in Fiji was to go to Maqai Beach Eco Surf Resort Unforgettable days. from the kitchen the food was fresh from the sea and garden. delicious. Wonderful staff always polite happy. it was a pleasure to know this place. And not forgetting the sips of water that I drank in the high waves of Fiji. Our house was super comfortable and clean. wake up early to do yoga on the balconi it was very peaceful And run around the garden during the sunset fantastic. thank you all for Evething. the children loved these days. 🤗

We stayed a week as a family of four, with two boys, 14 and 12. Getting there is a great adventure, the resort is well looked after, and the food is excellent. Island tours, super snorkelling, kayaking, waterfall trips and hikes kept us busy - being a surfer is no precondition for enjoying this resort. Volleyball is a galvaniser, inclusive and great fun as well as enjoyably competitive! While the setting is classic ‘Robinson Crusoe’, including unpredictable weather, what we didn’t anticipate was the wonderful sense of community we were invited into. The more we opened ourselves up to it, the further we were embraced, and we left positively changed. This won’t be for everyone, but we can attest to the high ratings and warm reviews. This is an amazing place, looked after by warm and genuinely friendly people, and we were so sad to say ‘moce’.

My partner and I found Maqai Beach Eco Resort listed on a blog for "best eco resorts" and even though it took a bit more effort to coordinate the extra flight, it was SO worth it. I didn't think experiences like this existed anymore for travelers not wanting to spend a huge amount of money - it was a totally secluded cove and beach only accessible by boat, with amazing amenities and truly unforgettable experiences with the staff who live at the resort together while there are guests. We snorkeled at a breathtaking reef a boatride away, paddle boarded, did an amazing waterfall hike at the island nearby (Taveuni), did yoga and had a massage to the sound of lapping waves, ate local and deliciously-prepared food that came from the onsite organic garden, and were serenaded by beautiful Fijian songs played by Tex and others at night. There was even a night with entertainment with fire-dancing and traditional dancing put on by the staff! I left the island with a recharged spirit and a full heart and will remember this experience for a very long time. Special thanks to Tex, Mila and Cathy, who helped organize activities and take us on adventures, and especially to Tex, a truly multi-talented, fun and adventurous person with a beautiful voice, who took our experience to the next level. I highly recommend Maqai Resort if you're looking for an authentic, amazing experience off the beaten path. Vinaka!!!

I was looking for a surfing trip for my 16 year old son and I- prerequisites were tropical warm weather , waves , off the beaten track and not too commercial. Maqai ticked all these boxes and more . The food for the 7 days was outstanding- each meal prepared with love and care , whilst healthy and so tasty. The staff were the best I have ever come across in hospitality- we were treated warmly as family and every request was followed up immediately. Cathy was like a mother to the staff and guests and is so experienced and knowledgeable. The boat captains and surf guides ( particularly Uli) were fantastic with the surf locations and tips , making us feel so safe . The lovely boys taking care of the bar and table service always made us laugh and feel like they were there to help with anything. Johnny in particular showed a level of knowledge and experience rarely seen . The surf was not the best due to the wind at the time but we still made it out for 5 fun sessions . There was so much else to do - the village tour was authentic, welcoming and quite moving . We arrived through the mangroves to a glorious welcome and it was such a peaceful happy place . The waterfall day trip was just mind blowing and the scenery all around the resort is as beautiful as any destination in the South Pacific . Tex was in charge of activities and really made time to get everyone involved in all the games , especially volleyball which all the staff join in with . Each night the music and singing around the Kava bowl was as relaxing or crazy as the vibe dictated . I would recommend Maqai to surfers , families and couples . The bures and facilities are all anyone would need , and made up each day and night for comfort . I can’t wait to take my wife there one day! Vinaka ! 🤙🏾
