Reviews of Hotel Tres Banderas

This place is a true, hidden gem. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff is amazingly welcoming and helpful. There is wildlife all on the property each day. We saw monkeys, sloths, macaws and even an ant eater. The restaurant was a surprise treat because it looks so simple, but the food is amazing.

A surprise! This felt initially like it might have been a mistake. But, the food was superb at lunch and dinner time. The chefs and especially the bar man/waiter were fantastic. The room, room 1, had good views and was very clean and comfortable. When it rained it was noisy with dripping onto the metal roof long after the rain had stopped, which would be helped if the gutters were cleared! A couple of bad nights with little sleep resulted. But the view of monkeys and other wildlife was good. The pool was nice, when there were no divers in it, and although the drive / steps are steep there is a bus stop very nearby making it accessible to nearby shops and restaurants. Definitely worth a few days, especially with the catamaran tour and the national park being so close and do try the tuna!

We felt like we were at a fancy resort! The property was beautiful and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We took a dip in the pool and enjoyed their happy hour. The bartender made some excellent cocktails. Breakfast was also delicious and made to order. Be prepared for the crazy driveway entrance! It’s steep and on a busy road but it didn’t end up being an issue.

Entire property needs upgrading. The pool was filthy and pool furniture was dirty and broken. Room furnishings are sparse and no mattress covers. The sheets were so thin you could literally feel the mattress stitching. Dirty walls and who knows what was growing on the ceiling of the bathroom. Over our two day/night stay the property lost power twice. We wanted to enjoy the common areas to be outside but every time we got comfortable someone (many times staff) would use the area for smoking. Really, smoking in a common area? The location precluded us from walking anywhere as the street is curvy and steep, no sidewalk, and very dark at night. The only plus, there is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel so you can thankfully get away.

Lumpy old pillows, mildew stained ceilings, nickel and diming on ridiculous things (charging for a pool towel, a cup of ice at the bar, etc. The manager (owners son) was pretentious and rude. Of our six stays in Costa Rica, this was the only one we regretted.

I've stayed here since April 2004 I love the place It's off the beaten path it's nothing fancy but it's getting better and you want to stay in the jungle anyhow I don't want any Foo Foo hotel. And J's great Maria still there several of the new girls are there and the guys and everything's fine. Food in the restaurants outstanding the presentation is excellent.

Wonderful people in every role. It is a super convenient location and the restaurant is truly a hidden gem. Went through the whole menu and it's all delicious.

This is the greatest place I have ever stayed! I am overjoyed to think about returning one day. Best food ( don’t bother going to other restaurants bc the best cooking is right under your nose). Andre will treat you like a rockstar ( he’s awesome). Jesus and Favi are both like family. I can’t say enough good about this place. The only bad thing was checking out!

Great hotel in the middle of nature, great pool, great food and the AC works reliably in a very nice room with a hammock on the balcony, we have been here for the second time and would come back anytime... it is also logistically very convenient close to the entrance to Manuel Antonio NP

Positive points: Friendly and professional welcome, spacious and well-equipped suite, large shower room, large swimming pool and welcome in this heat, really nice bar with original cocktails and really really well prepared (take advantage of the happy hour!) and served with a smile, possibility of dining on site (not tested), good size parking, the entrance to the hotel is on the main road leading to the MA park but the building is set back enough not to be disturbed by noise Traffic. Points for improvement: Swimming pool which deserves to be better cleaned (lots of green moss at the bottom of the water) and breakfast which is a little light (one egg, two small pancakes and a mini-sausage) for going hiking

Very welcoming hotel, kind and very helpful staff... I had lunch and dinner for 3 days at their restaurant and I ate very well... Nice swimming pool, clean and comfortable rooms... Bus stop nearby, in 5 minutes you are both at Manuel Antonio who in Chepos...

Teníamos contratadas 4 noches en este hotel y acabamos de buscar otro porque es insoportable dormir allí. Las habitaciones tienen el techo y paredes lleno de moho, huele a humedad que espanta, tanto que no es bueno ni para la salud. Además hasta la ropa de cama huele fatal a humedad. Cuando decidimos buscar otro hotel se lo comunicamos a recepción y ni el más mínimo caso, es más, ni siquiera nos miró a la cara… le dijimos que dejábamos la habitación porque era imposible dormir ahí y no el más mínimo pestañeo… ni levantó la mirada del ordenador…Solo dormimos un día, y al día siguiente “hicieron la habitación” básicamente estiraron las camas porque la papelera del baño no cambiaron ni la bolsa y a esto se suma q en la mayoría de wc de Costa Rica no se debe tirar el papel al wc por lo cual… una vergüenza. Las terrazas están comunicadas unas con otras y las puertas no cierran por lo q cualquier persona puede entrar en tu habitación… Adjunto fotos para que quede constancia de las instalaciones del hotel, no entiendo como algunos huéspedes pueden dejar buenas opiniones… dudo q sean ciertas, puesto que con todos los q nos hemos cruzado nos han dicho lo mismo. Por decir algo bueno, había un perezoso en el parqueo del hotel q se dejó fotografiar e incluso hizo monerías!

Hotel immerso nella foresta tropicale, buona colazione, piscina molto bella, posizione tranquilla, parcheggio gratuito, lo staff ci ha gentilmente assistito e consigliato nell'organizzazione delle escursioni . Abbiamo potuto ammirare diversi uccelli durante il soggiorno.

Nous avions une chambre familiale très spacieuse avec une belle terrasse . La salle de bain est de taille correcte . Nous n’avons pas testé la piscine car il pleuvait et du coup la chambre était sombre . Nous avons testé le restaurant qui est d’un bon rapport qualité /peux. Le petit déjeuner est tout à fait correct aussi De la terrasse nous avons pu observer des singes et des oiseaux. Il y a un hamac pour se reposer
