Rigas Hotel Skopelos Reviews

I don't know where to begin with this hotel. JUST DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I travel a lot with my family and can honestly say in the last 20 years this is the worst hotel I have stayed in. Luckily we were only there a few nights as we were Island hopping. On arrival we were given a room at the back on the kitchens in the staff quarters, we booked this bucket list holiday 18 months before. The room was not clean, the bathroom was dirty and the shower head holder was broken, there was dead mosquitos all over the room and air conditioning unit. the room was very dark due to being completely covered my uncut trees and plants. Our only window was overlooking a flat roof. A Cleaners trolley was in the Garden if i can call it that the whole time we were in this hotel which was next to stairs to a basement for staff with all furniture and old food left out. We spoke to reception on arrival and asked to be moved to be told there is nothing available. I had to insist they went back in to clean the room and they did reluctantly. The next day I insisted we move as my children were bitten to death as the mosquitos were already in this dirty room when we arrived. We did get moved to another room the next day after being told to vacate the dirty one and wait until 3pm, from 10am to check-in AGAIN, when we eventually got in it was better for seeing daylight and bearable however both locks on patio doors did not work, other families in the hotel also had this. The bed sheets in our new apartment had blood Staines on them. The pool was filthy and this was after the black dirt from around the edge was asked to be cleaned. The pool was full of dead wasps and the life guard just gave us the net to remove ourselves as he was too busy talking to his colleagues. Breakfast left a lot to be desired, basic, but the worst of it was that the staff in the restaurant was wearing gloves, but I saw one staff member stroke a stray cat and carry on in the same gloves. The worst of all of the above was the reception staff. The manager could not speak English so the reception staff who were broken English were a main issue, as they had attitude and did not want to help. I was told ' you have been given a new apartment why have you got an issue now?' on the day were we leaving (thankfully) we asked to keep the room for an extra 2 hours late checkout as a goodwill gesture but NO again. When i did check out i gave them back their blood stained sheets after another argument with reception staff. I will never recommend or go back to this awful hotel. We paid a lot for this as part of a package holiday. PLEASE DONT PUT YOURSELF OR YOUR CHILDREN THROUGH THIS.

A wonderful family holiday. Staff were fantastic and we felt comfortable that if we had a problem, it would have been sorted. Perfectly clean and a great location within a short walk from the centre of town.

We stayed at Rigas hotel for 2 weeks in August and loved our stay. I don’t know why people have been so negative in previous reviews, we had a fabulous time and would return. George & Konstantina on reception were amazing! We stayed in room 370, basic room but had everything we needed. The shower was small and could do with updating but it was fine. We used the the room as a base for sleeping and seeing beautiful Skopelos so weren’t in it that much. Rigas fit the bill perfectly, great location and only a short walk to the harbour. When we booked it said continental breakfast so we were happily surprised with the cooked breakfast on offering. There was always a lady cooking fresh eggs or pancakes and plenty to choose from. Could always get a sunbed round the pool and didn’t see the usual towel brigade reserving them at 5am! There was a yellow stain round the edge of the pool which looked like it was cleaned off but any white swimwear did turn yellow so wouldn’t recommend anything white. Lifeguard always on duty. Kids were allowed their inflatables in the pool but were not allowed to jump in. This seemed silly given how deep the pool was and the fact that the lifeguards friends were allowed to jump in, so our kids didn’t understand why they were being told they couldn’t so this was the only downside for us. Overall great holiday and would stay again.

We booked for 2 weeks but after one week we couldn’t tolerate another week so arranged an early flight back with Jet2. First room (368) had a rubbish dump for the view, room was damp and smelt fusty. Bed very hard and damp. Balcony overgrown with bushes. My partner refused to sleep in the room so spent the night on the sofa in reception! After complaining we were given another room (364) the following day. This was a slight improvement as the view was better but again the room was very damp and smelly. Bed again damp so I slept on my beach towel. My partner has asthma so still wouldn’t sleep in the room so slept on the balcony under our mosquito net all week. Most of the time we had no hot water and at times no water at all. They sent the ‘plumber’ but he wasn’t much use. Our neighbours also had no hot water and said their room was smelly and damp. When we did manage a shower the bathroom flooded and no mop to dry it. No ventilation either so it made the room muggy. Woken up by cockerels and dogs barking around 4am in the morning. We were half board, breakfast was ok with a decent choice of food but for our evening meal we had to select what we wanted and it appeared the food was microwaved. There was only ourselves and one other couple eating in the evening. We have been going to Greece for the last 20 years but this is the worse hotel we have ever stayed in and certainly would not recommend it. After our first week we had had enough so arranged an early flight back even though we had paid for 2 weeks. This certainly was a holiday to remember but for all the wrong reasons.

A well cleaned property with vey kind personell. Full with nice plants the outside area makes the staying really pleasant. Only cons there is no actual parking in the property and 1 tile broken in bathrooms. Overall really nice property

Friendly staff and close to Skopelos town. It looks good on the ”outside” with a lot of green plants. The rest of our stay has been quite underwhelming. I don’t recommend staying at this hotel. Been to a lot of hotels both in Greece and other countries. This is one of the worst I’ve been staying at. We live in a double room that is close to the entrance. The first thing we noticed was that we had nowhere to hang our clothes on our small ”balcony”. Our neighbors had that. Only got one sheet to sleep with. Went to the reception and the friendly staff gave us an extra sheet. There is no ventilation in the bathroom and the showerhead sprayed in different directions. Our door also broke down during our last days. You can close it, but you have to put the lock in the ”right” position. After reading the reviews we did not tell the staff about the door breaking down. Since it seems like they don’t fix these stuff. We just wanted to relax during our vacation. Never experienced a hotel where the cleaning was so late. The earliest cleaning was 3 PM and one time the cleaning lady knocked on our door at 4:45 PM. We had been out all day from 8 AM to 4 PM. There was pleny of time to clean our room. Breakfast didn’t have a lot of options. Once again the staff was nice, but it can’t compensate for the rest. The pool chairs was worn down. Luckily we went to beaches and only spent two days at the pool.

What a great wee hotel. Although the breakfast wasn’t the best for us we ended up going out and grabbing something at the harbour. The room was clean not sure room was a 3* level but staff and cleanliness made up for this. The hotel staff, Geórgios who was always working and more than happy to help and Konstantina the happiest person I think I’ve ever met. Both were credit to the hotel. Pool was clean and reasonably maintained. Room had one double bed and one single I paid a little more for a balcony which I think paid off as the other rooms as you enter the hotel looked like they didn’t have much privacy. If going back I would definitely use this hotel again.

We were looking for somewhere you could walk into Skopelos town after having a week in a villa up on the hills where we had to drive everywhere. As a family of 5 with 3 teenagers the only room option was an 'apartment'. Unfortunately the quality of the room was very poor as was the location which was basically round the back past the kitchen and basement.. My wife called it the 'staff quarters'! The location of the hotel is good as you can walk into town, although there is a lack of pavements for some of it which means you do have to look out for cars. The pool and bar area are also fine. I appreciate its 3 star, but in august we paid over 500 pounds for two nights in a very basic 2 bed room with no view and a tiny balcony.... not the best.

This is a lovely hotel. We had two weeks there for our silver wedding and because of the occasion we had a free upgrade to a studio apartment with fridge, free wine/fruit, extra mezzanine bedroom and balcony overlooking the pool/countryside. Very quiet spot and all the hotel is very clean. Lovely comfy bed. Poolside bar food is excellent and also cocktails! Every morning different choices of English and Greek food were cooked. Tho. you need to ask for toast! Whatever we asked for eg extra coathangers the friendly staff dealt with speedily. We will definitely stay there again if revisiting Skopleos - one of the most beautiful Greek islands.

Staff friendly. Clean hotel. Pool lovely. Bar reasonably priced. Lovely location. Can walk in ten mins from the port with cases easily. Rooms are basic but clean. Would defo return.

It's such a shame as the pictures make this place look like a really nice friendly hotel, let's start with saying this place could be amazing. Maybe as it was the end of the season but not many of the staff seemed bothered by anyone except the man on reception who was always really helpful. The rooms and the place are very tired now run down, we had to complain 3 times that are toiled was leaking and heard a few more horror stories as well. If you like cats this place is for you, far too many ferral cats running sound not sure if it was mosquito bites or fleas. Such a shame as I said before this could be an amazing hotel. Close to local amenities with the port of skopelos being a 5 minute walk away with a good few restaurants and an awesome cocktail bar called pablos

We had booked with jet2 half board and arrived at 9.30pm with no hold ups. Reception told us we had missed dinner. No offer of a refreshment or anything. Our room 123 had a terrible smell, damp, the ceiling lights in bathroom was leaking water, it was terrible. Asked to be moved and was moved the next day. The new room was basic but clean and tidy. Food was good and location is brilliant. Rooms at the front of reception needs attention and maintenance. Beautiful island but wouldn’t stay in this hotel again,

Been back a week since our lovely stay at this hotel and can recommend it very highly. Looking at previous reviews some people have put negative reviews on here but all I can say to that is your paying for a 3 star don’t expect a 5 star. But back to my positive feedback to this lovely hotel. We stayed in room 110 which was a lovely spacious room and lots of space for clothes to hang the bathroom a proper shower with plenty of power the bed a was very comfy and as some people put out dated I say more rustic but in a very nice way. The staff here are so friendly and helpful from the desk to the catering staff the pool bar and cleaners are so amazing. Any queries you have or problems they are there to help and help they do stopping whatever they was doing to help you. I didn’t get any of there names but everyone made our holiday a special one. As we was stopping on a bed and breakfast basis we never had an evening meal but the breakfasts was amazing so much choice with a great variety over our 9 days stop yes it’s not a full English breakfast but your not in England but hey how many times do you get the choice of spinach or cheese pie for breakfast selections of fresh fruit yoghurt pancakes omelette or fried egg you will not starve at breakfast I can guarantee. Ate at the pool bar during they day a couple times and I can recommend the club sandwich as they was filling and very tasty. So to sum up to all you future travellers to Riga’s Hotel. Enjoy and have a lovely time and to all the Riga’s Staff thank you so much for making our holiday a great one and look forward to seeing you again in the future.
