On the positives... We had a great stay here. The old pub, now more up-market eatery, was a very nice place to be. The decor had obviously taken a lot of time and thought. It was a very comfortable environment. We had one very good evening meal here with great service and good food. A good range of drinks was available. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed 3 really top notch cooked breakfasts ! Worth the visit, in themselves ! Our room was spacious and tidy. A little guadily decorated for our tastes with a few too many cushions & throws ! But a very comfortable bed and our room was serviced each day which we didn't expect. All the staff we interacted with, were great, being both helpful and cheerful. We would stay here again quite happily On the negatives ... Contrary to other reviews the only real issue here would be cleaning. In the bedroom a "high level" clean is required to deal with cobwebs and dust on the higher surfaces. We also had cause to pull the bed out to sort out the bedside lights, and wished we hadn't ! It had clearly not been pulled out for a long time. There was general rubbish underneath and a lot of dust!. The bathroom on initial inspection was fine with a great shower enclosure but up close it really needs a complete re-fit. Once your floor tile grouting has gone black, I think it's time for a change. The radiator and towl rail were both rusty, the tap was quite grotty and I'm not sure what was going on around the top of the walls, but it wasn't pretty ! The bathroom is usable but not in keeping with the rest of the establishment.
