One night stay here - in Suite des Templiers - amazing overall experience. Hotel is surprisingly close to the main road, but once you pull in and are met by the bellman it's a charming place to stay. Our room was ready a little early, and we were walked through the gardens to the suite in a different building. The room itself was stunning - huge reception area with large walk in wardrobe, large sitting area on the right with plenty of room for the extra z-bed for daughter to stay in, along with a complimentary bar with high-end spirits, fridge with drinks, coffee machine and even an ice maker. Decor was bold and modern, but in keeping with the heritage of the hotel overall. Bedroom was spacious and well appointed, with an amazingly comfortable king sized bed. The highlight of the room had to be the bathroom though - almost as big as the rest of the suite with a walk-in shower, double sinks, two baths (one a huge sunken jacuzzi) and the private sauna. Surprisingly was also a japanese washlet automatic toilet, along with a very well appointing dressing area to one side for doing your make-up. Dinner was amazing, classic michelin-star tasting menu and unbotrusive service. Breakfast was similarly a high-end affair, with local pastries, home-made jams and eggs cooked to order. Overall - amazing stay, and would look forward to another visit in the future.

We stayed from a Monday to a Thursday and were not informed at any time that both the restaurant and the bar would be closed on the Tuesday and the Wednesday. We were told that room service was available only offering a very small and unacceptable menu. The hotel is not located anywhere near local restaurants making it very inconvenient (having to get into the car to make a 20 minute journey and 40 minute round trip) and taking away from the relaxation we were hoping for at the end of a 5 week European trip. We couldn’t even get to enjoy the beautiful bar as this too was closed for the duration of our stay. On the Wednesday we just wanted to relax by the pool the whole day, but getting room service was a joke. Asking us to go to tge room to call through our lunch order (that is cooked next to the pool that we were lying at) then to go fetch our food from the room. After me pointing out how ridiculous this was age eventually agreed for me to call it through on my mobile phone and to have it served at the swimming pool. Very unhelpful. In our opinion the property is beautiful but there is a massive lack of service and hospitality. What a shame our trip ended like this.

As you step into this true treasure you feel you have been transported to another world and time… the two welcoming receptionists, the warm and efficient dining room staff, the outstanding chef, the beautiful guest rooms and the endless gardens and flowers… Fabulous!

The setting is magical, a parkland full of beautiful mature trees, flower beds overflowing with vibrant colour and historical buildings scattered throughout with a serene feeling of peace and beauty. Our first view at sunset as we arrived was breathaking. The hotel was lit up like a Thomas Kinkade painting with tumbling flowers and the most welcoming of sights. The pros of the hotels are: Grounds Atmosphere and character Friendly and warm staff Restaurant quality Pool set up was excellent Housekeeping - it was clean and small touches such as a candle by the bath Fluffy new R&C towels were appreciated Nuxe bath condiments The updated bedroom curtains, head board etc was stylish Great tennis courts The cons are: Some of the rooms need bathrooms outdating Some of the flooring in the bedroom needs updating Some investment in the rooms generally is now overdue A room service menu that is available is a necessity in a five star hotel A greater variety of breakfast options and freshly pressed orange is a must in a hotel of this calibre With some investment this hotel has all the ingredient to go from very good to absolutely outstanding very easily. Despite the above, I would not hesitate to stay again. It is a beautiful property, conveniently located and we would like to spend more time there in the future.

Our room was fine but it had no facility to have a shower as only a hose with no high clip over the bath. The separate toilet was tiny. Internet in the bedroom was patchy to say the least. Beautiful grounds and pool area. Drinks over priced poolside. €15 for a Spritz when others of this calabria around €10. Restaurant good but if eating there for more than one night lack of choices. No option other than fine dining
