Gardenia Hotel

Mid-size fairly quiet hotel near perissa Beach. Rooms were cleaned daily. Had a full-size fridge in the room. However, no kettle, we had to pay to rent one. My understanding of this is that if you are self-catering and not bed and breakfast, a kettle is provided. I feel that a kettle should be provided anyway. This did not, however, spoil our stay, and we would definitely stay here again .

Was a bit apprehensive about booking this hotel but after reading some good reviews was feeling hopeful. The saying you get what you pay for is very true. This was a last minute cheap getaway with a free child place at half term and the price is what appealed to us. Had always wanted to visit Santorini after seeing pictures of how beautiful it looked. The resort of Perissa where this hotel is situated is not the best and if honest it felt very run down and underdeveloped. The roads around the hotel were very dangerous due to speeding motorists and therefore would not recommend to families with young children as you need to be very vigilant. On the positive the hotel is close to the beach but again, cars all over, no pedestrianised areas. The hotel is definitely a 2 star, no more, no less. It was kept clean and and there is a nice pool area. The hotel is very dated and feels as though it needs some money spending on it. It felt as though the hotel was furnished in the late 70s early 80s and nothing had been replaced since. The bed frames were very old although the beds were comfier than they actually looked, no bad back so that was a bonus! Unlike most other hotels I’ve stayed in with my child where there had been a put up bed this had an actual third bed which was also good. There was a fridge in the room, no water in it on arrival (for a couple of euros this would have been a nice gesture) no tea of coffee facilities either but this maybe typical of a 2 star? The balcony area was nice and spacious with a small washing line for wet towels which proved handy. The bathroom was very small and the shower was poor with just a curtain around rather than a door so water tended to spill out everywhere. I found it very strange also that there was a small window in the bathroom that opened onto next doors balcony? The towels worked well as exfoliators as they were so rough!! If the bathroom door (which didn’t close very well at all) wasn’t closed at night the light came through the window early morning also. We woke very early the first morning as for some reason there were no shutters on our window and all that were hanging in our room were some white see through curtains, I did report this and to be fair a brown piece of material resembling a curtain was put up by the time we arrived back that afternoon. The staff were ok and spoke most days but I often felt on my return in an evening that we had to be very quiet walking in as the first night we arrived were told to keep the noise down as there were young children asleep. (We were just chatting whilst checking in)This made me feel as though I was staying in someone’s house not a hotel. If noise was to be kept to a minimum then perhaps key cards should be used as jangling keys and doors being opened/banged shut at night proved very noisy. I arrived early hours in the morning... security helped me to my room and gave me a bottle of water no problems. Rooms albeit dated suited me fine. If I had to improve the room it would be tall mirrors. the beds were hard and that for me was perfect (no back ache like I get at home) pool area was lovely, nice perfect location family run. Now onto my only negative the breakfast it's not great maybe pastries would be nice but a salad and cake isn't for me cereal was on offer and toast eggs..but I mainly just had toast and yogurt then headed to bakery later. I flew home quite late and check out was 11am however showers are available for you to change and freshen up but allow time as it gets busy . Thanks for a lovely stay x

Lovely apartments with a great pool and poolside bar, staff are excellent and the hotel is close to all of the attractions of Perissa, especially the brilliant Dorians pub ! The beach is just a few minutes walk in the opposite direction

Unfortunately for us this was the worst holiday experience we've had. very small tired room with constant smell of sewage, salt water to wash and brush your teeth with, tiny bathroom, no facilities in the room like bottled water, huge spider web in corner of room, poor quality breakfast with very little choice, broken sunbeds around the pool, noise from other guest at 04.00 in the morning, the list goes on. Staff were friendly and helpful, apart from walking into my room without knocking while I was using the toilet! We only lasted 2 nights before checking out and moving to another hotel at our expense.

The Gardenia is a friendly family run hotel in a great location halfway between the main ***** and Perissa beach. Our room (number 17) was spacious and well appointed with an extra large balcony capturing the sun most of the day. The service was excellent with the towels changed daily and the bed linen every other day. The reception was friendly and helpful regarding trips, bus services and local amenities. Pool was a good size too and just warm enough to swim in despite being mid October. All in all for a reasonably priced, clean and friendly base in Perissa the Gardenia fits the bill.

What a lovely hotel. Location is a quick 5 minutes walk from the beach and the nearest supermarket is the same going in the other direction. The welcome we received when we arrived was great and everyone connected to the hotel is so helpful and friendly. We were given some sound advice about site seeing and the buses. (I will mention that some of the buses can be really full and you are packed in. My wife and I spent our whole journey at the bottom of the stairwell). The hotel and our room was very clean do hats off to the cleaners. There was a nice sized pool with plenty of sun beds and brollies. A nice little bar area for drinks and snacks. The breakfasts were adequate with hot and cold options. A lovely hotel and a lovely holiday

Good basic accommodation rooms cleaned really well change of towels every few days air con included ! Breakfast eaten inside or on a small terrace outside choice of cereal yogurt ,scrambled eggs ,bacon ,cake and coffee from an urn which was fine,Safe rental 1 euro a day and reception staff friendly and helpful also in a great location .

My daughter and I stayed for a week from 29 August. We stayed in a deluxe studio which was great for my daughter and me. The studio had a terrace that opened directly onto the pool. The studio had everything we needed and was modern, exceptionally clean and comfortable. The receptionists were really helpful with advice during the stay. Gardenia is really central and I would definitely recommend it
