The Westin Dragonara Resort, Malta

Paceville St Julian's|0.37km from Paceville
We celebrated our wedding at Westin Dragonara resort and they made my dreams come true! We chose Reef club / Pavilion because of its perfect location close to the sea, spacious venue and we also used a chance to take some romantic photos at Quadro and The boat house lounge. We booked two nights at the hotel and everything started with a warm welcoming by Tony, Doraldo and their front desk team. Every team member was always with a smile and very helpful. Special thanks to the night team Samson and Suneel who were very friendly and welcoming to us! The room was perfectly clean , had a nice smell and had all the amenities we needed . Just a quick call to service express call center and Katarina , Alexia and Alejandra will make anything possible! They were very efficient to our frequent requests and they even provided a high chair for a bride when doing her make up ;) The wedding was perfectly organized thanks to Johanna and Pierre and their team who were very patient, professional and flexible to our requests. It felt like they read our minds :) The food was super delicious , and also special thanks to the pastry chef for a beautiful and delicious cake ! Last but not least, I would like to thank back of the house team, such as reservations team (Eva and Maja ) and accounts team (Joane and Jovana) who were very efficient when replying to us. We would definitely recommend The Westin Dragonara resort for a vacation or any kind of celebration and we are looking forward to coming back in the future! Tank you all! Sasha and Marten with love!

So City Hotel

Paceville St Julian's|0.06km from Paceville
Starting with the information - we stayed at So City as a young couple (who arent particularly into nightclubs/bars) to see Matla for the first time over a week. I have given this a 'benefit-of-the-doubt' rating due to the hotel being incredibly new. We picked So City Hotel because of the value, it was incredibly well priced. I'd imagine this is a strategy due to it being so new but it was certainly well worth the price we paid. On to the hotel as a whole - I feel this is definitely aimed toward capturing people coming to Malta for some night life. Its positioned so that no more than 10 seconds from leaving the lobby, you can be in a bar, and their are some nice bars surrounding. That said, we werent there for that - but this location also meant that finding an evening meal, or a quick early night drink was incredibly easy. Exploring the island was also very easy from here, Valletta was a very short journey, and as we had opted to rent a car, there was a carpark about 5 minutes walk away (Pengardens) which is reasonably priced for over night parking, and we never struggled for a space. The room was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect and bedding very soft and comfortable. Our upgraded room was also incredibly spacious. The theming is a nice touch and makes the room a bit more characterful and individual. Staying on the 7th floor, there was minimal noise at night, altough id be concerned if we needed to keep the window open.... The black out curtains were also amazing for keep the room dark for a little bit of extra sleep. Constructive criticism for the room would be: The shower tempurture is difficult - the hottest setting is insanely hot (my other half loves hot showers but this was too much for her also) and it wouldnt go cold, just cooler, it also seemed to get colder through out the shower and you found yourself adjusting. There is not a lot of storage at all for longer stays. This is perhaps a by product of it feeling aimed towards 'nightlifers' who might stop 3 nights or so. I would perhaps ask reception for additional hangers if you have plenty of clothes for a longer stay. The mini fridge, altough useful, is not big enough to put larger water bottles in, which can be annoying. The aircon unit is situated in a place which means it blows directly at the bed. I tried to play with the control but there was no way to adjust it that I could find. Im trying to cool the room, not refridgerate myself. The timer on the aircon also didnt seem to work, so setting it the blow for 30 mins whilst i went to sleep just didnt seem to work. The TV is not a full smartTV which is a shame. Just channels and an internet browser, which are never nice to navigate around.... On to other notes: Breakfast is just what you need. Its not an all out buffett where there is everything you could dream of, but there is more than enough and a few items cycle so you can expect a slightly different breakfast each morning. Constructive criticism for bre

The location is far from what I expected. The hotel it’s self is in the middle of a shopping mall, with amenities such as the pool and restaurant the other side of the mall. The area is bang in the middle of the night club strip, full of party goers and cheap bars and clubs. The area stinks too! But if you’re visiting for a week of drinking, I guess it’s the place to be?! However, being a small island, using bolt taxis, we managed to avoid the area completely and get to nicer areas with ease. The hotel it’s self is clean, modern and spacious. We went in September, off season, so we never had trouble getting a sun bed at the pool, but it is small and I can imagine in peak holiday period it would be a night mare! Charts music playing at the roof top pool, so it’s not the relaxing type, more for young people and day time drinks. Indoor pool basic. No jacuzzi or steam room/sauna ect which I would expect. But quiet and more relaxing vibes. The staff were pleasant and cleaning staff were attentive. Breakfast was the same every day, basic but enjoyable. With pastries, fruit and full english. I can’t really fault the hotel it’s self, other than it being based across two wings. Just the area in which it’s located let’s it down really. It’s for young party goers really. That modern, urban type of hotel. Karen, the trip representative at the hotel was awful. She seems polite and helpful ect, but didn’t care about the guests. She sold us a compete lie. Recommend the Fernandez boat trip and I won’t get into it but it was nothing like she described and was terrible. She tried to push the hop on, hop off bus on us. And was rather rude when we decided not to take it. We asked for recommendations for what to do instead and she said if we don’t go on the bus we may as well do nothing but stay in the area, what a load of rubbish!! Hope this review is helpful. From a 23&25 year old couple, wanting a holiday where we could explore Malta but relax within the hotel.

Beach Garden Hotel

Paceville St Julian's|0.08km from Paceville
We arrived around 23:00 hrs. (due to flight delays otherwise planned 20:00 hrs.). On arrival there was a receptionist called ”Vladimir” who checked us in & provided the room. When we went up to the room A/C did not work more than a few seconds, no telephone in the room to inform, so my husband went down (a long way) & informed him. He came to the room & tried & put it on & it worked again for few mts. while he was there, so he said it is working & left the room. But, it stopped again just after he left! My husband went down again & told him....what he has told my husband was he cant help & we have to sleep without A/C until next day until he find a technician during the day time!!! My husband told him it is very warm for us (coming from Denmark) we can’t sleep without A/C, that is why we paid for a A/C room! He said he called his boss & he told the same!!!! We were very shocked to hear, both the Receptionist & his boss have the same mentality when serving guests! Then my husband had told him we will bring our baggage down, stay at the Reception & call Police! Then he said, he found a room in another block, so he given direction to go to an entire different building.....we now walked to that place with our baggage alone much after midnight without any help from the Reception! There was a man sitting at the reception in that building, but he was mostly like a watchman! When we went there found that room A/C was dead, then found out remote control has not even have batteries, so we complained to that watchman! Then he came & check, he called Vladimir & informed A/C is dead, even no batteries in the Remote! Watchman was asked to come & get some batteries, when watchman went there no new batteries at the Reception, but he got some old batteries! Somehow A/C worked a bit, then stopped again after a few seconds….We informed Watchman again….this is around now 02:00 am, we haven’t had even our dinner! We told him you fix A/C issue & we have to go out & grab something to eat (luckily in that area there were lots of small take away/snacks places were available until late, so we grabbed Pizzas. When we returned, Watchman said the cables in the A/C were disconnected but now they were fixed! So, it worked finally but with lots of noises which we realized we had to live with them!!!! Then while we were sleeping we noticed so much of noise (talking, screaming, running up & down, music, doors opening & closing, etc.) on all the corridors throughout night, and then continued whole time until morning & beyond….then we found out the block where we were transferred was purely reserved for some 200+ teenagers looks like a high school group from Italy/Spain who behaved nothing uncontrollable children – Sadly, unprofessional reception couldn’t think the difference between 200+ teenagers & a descent couple who want to have a relaxed holiday…how on the earth he put us in the middle of 200+ teenagers!!!! In 1 room there were around 4-5 beds/students which we see when thei

I am writing this review on the evening before we leave for home in the UK We have stayed at Hotel Valentina for one week From the moment we entered reception the service has been exemplary. The hotel is modern, well presented and spotlessly clean. Everyone of the hotel staff we have encountered from reception, bar staff, breakfast staff and cleaning staff have been polite, efficient and eager to please. I cannot fault the service. We stayed half board and took our meals at The Avenue Restaurant, the food has been amazing and the service before the weekend was excellent, since then service has not been quite so good but this restaurant has only been open in this location for a week so some issues whilst bedding in are bound to take place. Rebecca, Maria and Andrea at the Avenue were delightful and did their level best to ensure we had a good experience but it appeared they had too many tables to serve on at any one time, that said the quality of the food made up for any shortfall. A very big well done and thank you to all at Hotel Valentina, you were a credit to yourselves and your company and superb ambassadors for Malta. Thank you

Very nice hotel with great customer service. Dealt with Malcolm and other than speaking 3 to 4 languages he’s capable and pleasant to deal with. I suggest getting into the club since it has a nice breakfast selection and aperitif. I imagined a better experience in the rooftop restaurant but the best thing they have is the view.

We were especially happy choosing Allegro Hotel. The structure is perfectly inserted in the center of San Giuliano. The location is great; a few steps from the Maltese nightlife and the markets. The room was in very good condition, new and modern. The very good breakfast. Having the flight in the evening, the hotel staff kindly gave us the possibility to leave our luggage in the hotel and to come back for a shower before departure. The stay was excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Really lovely hotel. Clean. Great location. Close enough to all the great attractions and shops but far enough from all the noise so you still get a great night's sleep. Fantastic service from everyone at Hyatt from the receptionists (Ben and I didn't get the name of the lady who worked with him but I think it may have been Laura?) to the doorman Hoque. Would highly recommend. PS lovely sunset from the 11th floor where the pool is

You may need a map to find the hotel in the narrow streets of St Julians. It is close to the airport bus stop from Luqa and very frequent buses to places around the island stop nearby. The hotel is in a quiet street and well located being close to St Georges beach, the Paceville nightlife and shopping centre or a short stroll to St Julians Bay. Plenty of options from fast food to high quality restaurants were all within walking distance. The hotel was a new build giving good sized rooms with balconies, spotlessly clean. All the staff, from reception, breakfast and cleaning were friendly, very good at making you feel special. Breakfast was good with fresh eggs cooked to order. Good value.
