The Aviator Hotel

We’ve came and stayed over for the weekend. The room we’ve stayed in was lovely, we could have done with a bigger tv. We’ve booked a table for lunch. I want to say that the food was really nice and we had an excellent service delivered by Alex I, who recommended us the best drinks to go with our food; The experience was really lovely and the art deco in the place just brings you back in time. Once again thank you to our lovely waiter who made our experience quite remarkable. We truly believe that he’s an asset to the company . We will definitely be back. Thank you

Well, very disappointing the overall impression is that it needs a tidy,l up. Slipped photographs in foyer, blown or flashing light bulbs, unfriendly greeting, insufficient and poorly trained bar staff. A large party of so-called professionals ruined our night by running corridors singing shouting from 01.30 - 03 30 without hotel intervention even though raised with staff. That said rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. Bottom line, this is my third visit, and provably last

Art deco style main building with rooms in a block across car park. Rooms and hotel buildings are clean and tidy. Hotel style and location with a lawn and garden area looking across the airfield behind is good. However, its just admin side fails badly.

Fabulous stay at this ‘different’ hotel. The hotel is on an aerodrome so always lots going on. Rooms are large and comfortable - love the big, fluffy towels. The restaurant was also very good. Love the decor and everything about the hotel. The staff are excellent!!

A really surprisingly beautifully outfitted hotel in the art deco period. Big hotel room with generous supply of tea/coffee items, good sized car park. The hotel is a separate building to the restaurant and bar. The bathroom is of a large size.

The room was well below standard. Not clean and everything extremely worn and dated. The walls were dirty and scuffed walls Chipped woodwork Marked and stained furniture. Hairdryer - hmmmmm Different shades of brown paint on the walls Stained tiles in bathroom Disgusting shower head and shower head holder Less than half a toilet roll provided Three tissues in the tissue box to make it look full Someone else’s sweaty forehead mark on the mirror. Not a pleasant night - especially after finding some unknown item stuck to the bedsheet when I got it (see picture) Oh, and when you raise a complaint, no one is available me to resolve it. Manager was meant to be in at lunch time so would call, but when chased, lo and behold no manager until the night shift. The only plus - the breakfast and food at the restaurant was excellent. I tried to upload a video but can not seem to do so.

Brilliant hotel in true Art deco style, lovely friendly people, clean. Would highly recommend the hotel restaurant and bar, it over looks an air field has a aviation museum and hangers with planes. If you are lucky you may see the Spitfire. Breakfast is good and evening meal is good, not over priced , well worth a visit

A delightful gem. We wanted an art deco hotel and we were not disappointed. The art deco theme was represented in the furniture and decor. The hotel is situated in an aerodrome and we had loads to see, we were treated to a war plane flyover, there were helicopters to view and someone was testing out their formula 3 racing car and bikes. Our room was a good size, a comfortable bed, the bathroom was a good size and the shower was powerful. We had a good selection of teas to choose from and, what was a welcome change, we had a choice of whole and semi skim milk and there was ample so we could have a couple of cups of coffee each. The food was homemade, breakfast was really good with plenty of options and during our stay, there was a different special each day, and I have to say the portions were very generous. The restaurant and bar staff were really friendly and the bar area is really comfortable, a great place to relax and enjoy a drink. The hotel is very clean, with good parking but note there is no electric charge points. The nearest charging point we found was the Ballantyne fitness club which had 2 fast charging points. The rooms are separate from the hotel but they have a card entry system so they are really secure. A must visit is the museum on site as well. We will definitely be returning again and it's a good location with loads of places of interest nearby. There are no lifts so if you have mobility issues be sure to request a ground floor room.

We only used the restaurant. Problem with the booking and the two staff members we spoke to were both pretty useless. No sense of urgency despite one of our group needing to eat urgently owing to being diabetic. We eventually pleaded for some sugar to help and this took several minutes to arrive. I’d already helped myself to a few sugar lumps from one of the tables by then. Staff need a lot of training to meet acceptable standards. The word “sorry” was never used and eye contact was never made. Two staff members who really don’t have the capacity or possibly the personality to work in hospitality. Food (when it eventually arrived) was OK but the whole experience was marred by the attitude of the staff who, frankly, couldn’t have cared less.
