Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Shiomiso

I requested a Japanese room with a futon on the floor. It's quite comfortable but difficult to get up when you're 1m90 tall. The most complicated thing is that we don't know where to put our things because everything is very low in this room. Breakfast and dinner buffet combining Japanese and European dishes. A special feature: at the reception level, the hotel provides kimonos free of charge to customers who want to enjoy the onsen. Another special feature: a bar where beer, wine and soft drinks are available for free self-service.

We were hit by a big earthquake on New Year's Day 2024. The inn responded quickly and made frequent announcements throughout the hotel, which allowed us to act calmly without any confusion. The staff must have been anxious, but they responded with a smile and were very responsive, which I think is because they are well trained in crisis management. Thank you for your help.

This was my first time here, but I personally think it's a top-class inn.

The only disappoin**ent is that the women's only open-air bath requires changing clothes from the large public bath, and there is no men's bath. The room had an ocean view, but the view below the window was disappointing. I think the restaurant would look cleaner if it was more tastefully arranged.

We visited the hotel with my parents-in-law in their 70s and my elementary school-aged children, three generations, for the beach. I do not recommend staying at the hotel for the beach, for reasons I will explain later. The hotel experience itself was very satisfying. I learned from other people's comments that the hotel has recently become part of the Oedo Onsen Group, and I think that this has paid off. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet style, but they had a wide selection of Japanese and Western food, as well as sweets that children will enjoy, and the menu was very satisfying for people from 7 to 70 years old. Both my children, who tend to be picky eaters, and my parents-in-law, who have a set preference for what they want to eat, were delighted, saying "It's delicious, it's delicious." However, if there was anything we needed, the hall staff there would help out as needed, so the service was very attentive. The rooms were clean, and the hot spring was not particularly large, but it was a comfortable facility that was well-cleaned. The reason I do not recommend staying at the hotel for the beach is simply because of the poor access to the beach. Despite its convenient location right behind the beach, to get to the beach, you need to exit from the front entrance on the opposite side of the sea, go around the side of the hotel, and walk down the slope. The distance from the entrance to the beach is about 300 to 400 meters, and the steps are 1.5 stories up a slope, so you have to carry your luggage and hold your elementary school child's hand. Returning is even harder. You have to go up 1.5 stories with your wet and heavy luggage and your body tired from playing. Even if you wash off the sand in the fresh water shower at the beach, you have to walk 300 meters from there to the hotel, so you have to wash your feet again next to the hotel entrance, which is both troublesome and exhausting. The hotel prohibits washing off sand in the shower in your room, so you have to wash it here. I stayed for two nights, and my child complained on the second day. It's easy to solve this access problem. On the B2 floor, which is the same level as the beach, there are a large public bath (for men and women), an open-air bath, and a private family bath (two rooms). Just remove one of the private baths and renovate it into the beach exit. If you set up a shower outside, create an entrance, and create separate changing rooms for men and women, you can wash your swimsuit there. There is a bath on the same floor, so if you bring a change of clothes with you, you can take a bath, get changed, and go up to your room right away. It's a convenience for guests, and it prevents the hotel from bringing in sand, so it's a win-win for both parties.

I felt the performance was poor for the high price.

Senami Onsen is located by the sea. As for the scale of the building, it is one of the top class in the hot spring town. A few years ago, the management body changed to the Ooedo Onsen Group, and the buffet of meals and the simplification of reception have been thoroughly implemented. Although it is a hot spring ryokan, you can't see the proprietress or waitress. The buffet has a large number of items, including steaks and a wide variety. There is no table service for alcohol, so take your room key, order at the counter, and bring it yourself. It seems that the rice is koshihikari from iwafune. The bath is on the first floor, and you can alternate between hot water and cold water while listening to the sound of the waves of the Sea of Japan. The sauna is small, but there is no set number limit. The price was set like a last-minute discount, so I was able to enjoy the hot springs at a low price. It depends on the way of thinking, but I think that this way of enjoying is also an ant.

A perfect location where the white snow and the blue sea spread out in front of you! I visited Senami Onsen because I wanted to soak in a hot spring while watching the sun set, but unfortunately it was cloudy. Still, I was satisfied because I could enjoy this superb view. Both breakfast and dinner are buffet style, but there are disposable gloves here and there, and I was relieved because I was thoroughly obliged to use gloves. Dinner was a typical buffet style, but the steak cooked in front of me was softer and tastier than I expected. Another good thing is that you can taste 5 kinds of local Niigata sake for 1100 yen. I was given 5 ochoko (liquor cups) and filled them with my favorite sake. It was nice to be able to compare 10 types of drinks with my daughter. It was also helpful when buying souvenirs. For breakfast, the corner where you can make your own seafood bowl was very good. There are quite a variety of things on the table, so it's a gorgeous seafood bowl with a small amount of rice and various ingredients on top. Wouldn't it be perfect for a family trip? Another good thing was that there were a lot of products in the store, and there were many types of alcohol, so it was good. In addition, I was able to combine the alcohol and souvenirs I bought elsewhere with the items I bought here and send them by courier. (You can buy a box from Kuroneko Yamato) Sake is a heavy bottle, so if you don't have a car, you hesitate to buy it, but if you send it by courier, you can buy it with confidence. The staff kindly taught me various things and it was a very comfortable inn. The hot springs were also very good, and I was able to relax while listening to the sound of the waves. The building itself must have been around for a long time, but the inside has been renovated, and unfortunately I couldn't see the sunset, so I felt like I wanted to try again.
