Holiday Resort & Spa Guam

First off, the location was great. There's an ABC convenience store just a block or two away, and the beach right in front was amazing. I regretted not spending more time on the beach on my last day. However, there was no hot water, and when I requested room cleaning, only the towels and water were replenished, and the room wasn't actually cleaned, which was disappointing.

Recommended for: Friends looking for a budget-friendly trip. The location is good for the price, and it's quite clean. It's close to GPO (Guam Premier Outlets), and the staff are friendly. Not recommended for: Couples. Also, if you have allergies (especially to dust/mold), I wouldn't recommend it. If you can't shower with cold water, make sure the boiler has been fixed before you go. Facilities: The physical structure is the same as the photos, but the pictures seem heavily retouched to look 'prettier' or 'brighter.' For Koreans born in the 90s, if you remember 'retreats,' it's exactly like the resorts we used to go to for elementary school retreats (late 90s - early 2000s). Cleanliness: Despite the aging facilities, the cleaning was good. Although it's old, the bathroom had no stains and there was no dust in the corners of the room; it was well-cleaned. There was no drain smell. Air/Smell: There's a moldy smell. The air is humid, and the bedding felt damp. I tried to ventilate, but there were pigeons on the balcony, so I couldn't open the window. If you have rhinitis, prepare for a runny nose and coughing fits. Major Downside!!!!! The boiler had been broken since 12/15 and was under repair, but I received no notice until check-in on 12/21! I went out and came back in, only to find no hot water and had to shower with cold water, which was incredibly chilling! The free cancellation period was until 12/17. If they had informed me about the hot water issue earlier, I would have canceled. I only found out about the broken hot water after showering at 11 PM on the first night after a starlight tour, so I couldn't even get a refund for the first night. Pros: Still, the staff were kind and responsive, and they refunded me for the remaining nights of my stay. Guam is warm, but the room is so humid that you can't turn off the air conditioning. If you come back from the beach or swimming and there's no hot water, it's really, really cold. If you're planning to book in December, I recommend checking if the boiler has been fixed first.
