University Inn ASU/Tempe

This hotel is right in the center of the action in downtown Tempe. It’s walking distance to some of my favorite places, such as Casey Moore’s Oyster House. The room was clean, and the staff was so professional. They seemed like they had been trained by the finest hotel. However, this is not the finest hotel. This is a motel. It’s close to the railroad tracks, and it’s close to some bars, and it’s not really quiet. That doesn’t bother me one bit. I live in a big city and I don’t think I could fall asleep if it was totally quiet. The front desk offers free ear plugs, if you need them. But it’s really not that outrageous. In fact, if you can fall asleep, watching a documentary, you won’t hear anything. The trains don’t run all night either. Fall asleep to a movie, and when you wake up to pee, everything will be quiet again. You absolutely cannot beat the value. I go to a hotel to sleep, not for continental breakfast, or anything else. If you want to be in a great area, and you are a no frills person, save a ton of money and go to this place. I will be back for sure.

I only stayed for 1 night because I had a 6am flight outta Phoenix. This motel is ok staff was nice, room was small but clean. The bed seemed old but was still comfortable. As a solo woman I felt mostly safe. Wish there was a 2nd lock on the door besides the deadbolt. Keep in mind when booking a stay here that it is on a very busy loud street so the room can be loud from all the traffic. So if you're sensitive to noise this probably isn't the motel for you or bring ear plugs like I did. Over all I would stay here again if it was just for 1 night but not multiple

The staff were excellent and friendly. Location great for Mill Avenue activities. Inside decor and bathroom fixtures modern and recently upgraded. Newer flooring throughout. Parking a little lacking for the number of rooms. Cost was below surrounding lodging options, but you get what you pay for. Lacked seating in the room, only one hard plastic chair. Primary issue was the mattress. It was so old and broken there was a permanent depression. When I sat on it, it bottomed out on the frame with my legs resting on the railing. The place was full and I couldn’t change rooms, so roughed it out one night. Facility needs all new beds and mattresses for sure. IMO comfortable beds more important than decor upgrades.

I was a bit worried booking my wife a room while i was having surgery but she was very comfortable there

Keeping in mind this is a low accomodation Motel, it is a fantastic value. The rions have been recently remodelled and the location is fantastic if you plan on going out on the town in the Heart of Mill Ave. I highly recoment it. One thing holding it back from being considered 5 stars in every respect is the exterior of the building. It needs some updating, and a fresh coat of paint would go a long way. Other than that, its about as good as it gets for a 2 star accomodation hotel.

The hotel itself was SO CUTE! The bed was amazing!! Everything was clean. I loved my stay...the ONLY reason why I gave it a 4 star is because it is right off a busy road and it is very noisy. But everything else was PERFECT! I loved the small feel and the decor and cleanliness was amazing!

Ok, the outside of this hotel may not wow you, but the room was very nicely renovated, modern, clean, and well maintained. The staff was excellent, and it's in a great spot in Tempe with lots to do and easy to get around.

The front desk attendant was so kind! She was such a warm welcome after a long drive and being exhausted. The location is great! There’s so much to walk to around the hotel. Room is clean and updated! I will say that it’s really noisy from the road traffic, but it doesn’t impact my review because I listen to white noise and couldn’t hear it while I slept. I never leave reviews, but wanted to leave one for this hotel!
