Capsule Land Yushima (Male Only)

If you're not Japanese, it's difficult to adapt there. There's a constant, strong smell of food in the room, probably from the ventilation system. There are no lockers for large or small bags; they're placed on shelves near the entrance, making it very difficult to retrieve anything. Besides the locker they provide, which only fits two clothe hangers, there's nowhere else to put your belongings. The sauna is nice, but I think the temperature isn't properly controlled; it gets excessively hot. It's generally a place used by Japanese people; it's definitely not suitable for foreign tourists, especially backpackers. Despite everything, the staff are helpful and try to do what's necessary. There is a small sitting atea but the voice of TV is too high level.

If you're Japanese, you might prefer it, but it's completely unsuitable for foreign tourists, especially backpackers like me.

Nice place, it's right next to a metro station, also close to Ueno and like a 15 mintues walk to Akihabara. The guests have to leave their shoes in a locker at the entrance, also everyone is provided with a pyjama-like suit (I think it is called yukata), but it is not mandatory to wear it, although it is in fact more comfortable to wear it rather than one's outdoor clothes. There is also a nice bathhouse with a sauna and hot bath. All of these seems to be typical for this kind of hostels.

Convenient hotel near Yushima station. The check-in time is from 3pm and check-out should be before 10am if you don’t want to be charged extra hour fee (even 1min late). There is a locker room and public bath on ground floor, each room floor has toilets which quite clean and well equipped. The capsule size is ok, there is a TV inside with few channels especially adult channel (common in Japan). In overall this hotel is good for solo male travellers.

They have a nice bathhouse in the basement. Capsules do feel a bit small. Lockers are small, but you can put your stuff in your capsule or outside of it. Would book again, it's an authentic Japanese experience.
