Hotel Und Restaurant Zum Hirschen

I booked this hotel in April 2024 through Booking. My account was mistakenly charged for two nights (two rooms for one night). To this day, the hotel refuses to refund the overpaid amount. Hence my conclusion: Never again. Not recommended under any circumstances!

Very nice place. The staff were courteous and I really appreciated the intent of trying to converse in Italian. The room was spacious: a living room that doubles as a bedroom, an entrance hall with a wardrobe, a modern bathroom with a bathtub and a small kitchen area. The beds were also very comfortable. Breakfast took place in the restaurant below, which was also very aesthetically pleasing, and had a wide choice of self-service food: cereals and milk, bread, toast, eggs, cured meats, cheeses, croissants, pain au chocolat, juices, coffee, etc. Very nice!

We were in beautiful Switzerland for a long weekend and chose this 3 star hotel. Unfortunately, in our opinion, it is more of a B&B. The hotel has rooms in the main building as well as some apar**ents in a neighboring building. Our budget room had everything we needed and was also reasonably clean. Even if the cleaning the following day wasn't as thorough as we would have liked. Fingerprints etc. were still visible on the fittings. The oddly placed bed was super illogical and not suitable for everyone (Siege photo). We slept relatively well, the street noise didn't bother us much. Apparently the staff saved because the reception was practically never occupied. The keys and the details of the room, name, etc. are openly displayed at the reception and you have to find your way around yourself. At breakfast the staff was nice and courteous. The breakfast was ok, although the bread and butter plait were unfortunately dry and the next day it was still the same plait. Overall, it was good value for money, and it is a good starting point for excursions in the region. But you should expect something B&B rather than a true 3 star hotel.

The rather dark room has more or less everything needed for an overnight stay. The permanent, deafening traffic noise of the thoroughfare is annoying and what is immediately noticeable in a negative way (the ring-proof hotel is right next to it!). Even good sleepers find it impossible to sleep for long periods of time. In addition, there are no curtains (everyone could see directly into the room) and the blackout at night is absolutely insufficient. Conclusion: never again to have to stay in such a hotel!

How were the ratings achieved??? Alumette fries were brown but mushy, not crispy. Meat was very tough and cut incorrectly. Not worth the high price. Service was also inadequate, perhaps overworked. Bottles of orange juice were just left unopened.

Very tasty meal here. Beef sting taken. We came back for the t****th time and ate venison medallions. It was also very tasty. Very friendly and attentive staff. They also served extra vegetables free of charge with my meal at my request.
