Piscadera Seaview Apartments

Not sure where to start…arrived by taxi from airport on Sat afternoon for 7 nights. Reception lady very pleasant but then we’re shown our 1 bedroom apartment - ground floor, no view and very, very shabby looking. I immediately requested another apartment perhaps on upper floor. Response was nothing else available - she would check tomorrow when other guests checked out. She left and would not return until 1230 earliest next day. There was nothing in apartment - no basics like soap, water, tea or coffee so we had to find a local store. When unpacking we saw just how dreadful the accommodation was: - whole place was grubby with a build up of dirt in every corner - small ants patrolled the bedroom floor - inside of cupboards & drawers filled with dust & debris - walls were marked & stained - no extra bedding - 1 top sheet and 1 pillow each on bed - lights not working in various rooms - bathroom a disaster zone with shower surrounded by rust with both shower doors falling off. — No shelves in bathroom meaning we had to put our stuff on floor under the rusty sink. Soap dishes both rusted with bits of old soap still on them - 2 bath towels only. No hand towels or face cloths. Only other towel was a stained & dirty dish towel - kitchen sink was filthy with a disgustingly dirty plastic drawing tray - inside of microwave had remains of cooked food - no toaster, but had a gas range top…with nothing available to light the gas! - cutlery in drawer was all stained - no bottle opener! - couch in living area had horrible stains - large noisy fridge in living area (just outside bedroom) - behind it, but clearly visible, was a blackened dirty mess of old dust etc - Wi-Fi was terrible - very patchy and when it did connect, it was very slow and entirely intermittent. We went to use the pool (no pool towels so had to use the 2 x bath towels). Area around pool very run down - rusting lamps, a couple of old seats & loungers…nothing else. Pool water was clean & clear but lots of debris in bottom. Strangely, the Wi-Fi connected better at the pool! Needless to say, we went online and found another place to move to from the next morning! After a broken night’s sleep (uncomfortable bed, only 1 pillow & sharing the room with the ‘wildlife’) we called a taxi and departed leaving the keys in the mailbox. I called at 1230 with the reception lady just arriving to inform her that we had left to stay elsewhere. Later, I informed *******. We are now in another resort, accommodation is brilliant and everything at an acceptable standard. As to the Piscadera Seaview Apartments, I do not attach blame to the Reception staff, rather it is obviously the owners who have allowed the place to slide into such a state of decay to be utterly past the point of simple refurbishment. I am losing my payment (cancellation terms were 1 day prior to arrival) but it was ‘cheap’ in comparison to others…now we know why!! Bottom line: we’re pretty well travelled and have stayed
