The Swan Inn

I love Butcombe pubs, but this is probably the best of the lot... It is a pretty building in a lovely setting. All of the staff are really friendly and attentive. The food is really good. Really good. Portions are not huge, but they are more than adequate. The fish here is always good. Caitlyn and Luke seem to be working whenever I stay and are excellent members of the team. The rooms are really comfortable and decorated to a high standard. The only thing is the rooms can get quite warm, but they will provide a Dyson air cooler.. This is a winner of a pub

We had a garden room, because they are the only rooms that allow dogs. Therefore, unable to comment on the other rooms. Room was spacious, clean and well equipped. No a/c but fan provided.everyone who dealt with us extremely friendly, efficient and helpful. Faultless service. Nothing was too much trouble. I thought the food would be average quality ‘pub grub’ I was wrong, very tasty. I can recommend the calamari to start, sweet, tender and flavoursome. We did not have dessert; no room. My wife had the battered fish and chips. She said it was one of the nicest she had eaten for a long time Breakfast was equally as good, freshly made to order. Even got an extra sausage and bacon rasher for our dog. Fantastic location. Only yards from 18,000 acres of forest, pasture etc to explore with the dog. You don’t have to bring a dog to enjoy this place, but they are genuinely dog friendly. Free doggie treats, barrel og doggie IPA (water) outside with 4 big bowls available. We only had one night. Next week I’m booking again for three nights next May. It was that good.

lovely place. very friendly and helpful staff. excellent food. bedroom very comfortable. good location and free parking. would recommend this place. can't fault anything and would certainly stay again if travelling in this area.

The Swan Inn is a lovely country pub with rooms finished to a hotel standard. Our room was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The en suite was was great too with a lovely shower giving the option of normal shower head or a rainwater one. Full size, very nice toiletries provided, thick fluffy towels and a very pretty tiled floor. The added extras made the stay a very welcoming one - earplugs and sleep spray, free Netflix (we don't have this at home so stayed up too late binge watching four episodes of Stranger Things!), complimentary water, milk (in glass bottles - yay!), Prosecco and beer all kept cool in a small fridge with a wide selection of other chargeable drinks and snacks. Nice touch. Breakfast was very tasty and the staff were friendly. Would happily stay here again and would recommend it. Good location for getting to various places nearby - Bristol airport, Cheddar, Weston-Super-Mare. Good value for money, especially with all the added extras.

Thanks for a great night's stay. My room was great and had a brilliant night's sleep. Loved listening to the owls hooting away ! My evening meal was excellent as well and Honey who served me was absolutely amazing. Breakfast was spot on as well. Thank you Sam and all the team.

Service amazing. Fab staff. Thanks to Tom for dropping us off after his shift. Rooms lovely. Walked to fort ruins around 5 miles. Pretty rural and busy with local walkers. Food great. Asked for rare steak but it was more blue so next time I’ll get medium rare!

Old building but clean warm modern fittings, great atmosphere and obviously very popular with the locals. Food was lovely good choice and priced well, breakfast was great with the Stornoway black pudding. would definitely go back.

Great Pub stay. Quiet, spacious room in the annexe. Good selection of items on the Breakfast menu.

We stayed here for one night on our way elsewhere. The room was lovely, spacious & clean & the complimentary fizz was most welcome after a long drive. The food in the restaurant for dinner was overpriced for the portion sizes, my gnocchi was ‘child’ sized, even the staff pointed out when we ordered that as a chain they had to follow set portion sizes. Breakfast was delicious but slow, only one member of staff to cover all tables.
