Arrived in the evening on Saturday night to be met by the most grumpiest lady ever. After having just been proposed to it felt awful having my happy buzz ruined by orders being barked at me and almost like I had ruined her evening by turning up. When we got to the room the towel over the bath tub was soaking which meant it had been used the bed was also uncomfortable due to it appeared to be two singles pushed together even though I paid more for a king size bed I could have paid cheaper for a 2 single room and done that myself. I will say breakfast was good though and morning staff appear a lot nicer than evening

Our room was for disabled people which we are not, the bathroom was very inconvenient We asked about this & were told that’s all they had

We didn’t spend much time there. Had a meal at night but was disappointed as couldn’t get any cocktails which for a bar isn’t acceptable sorry.

Small bed. Hear everything going on outside your room so not ideal. Seems it’s had it’s day.

I’m not sure why this place has such good reviews. After seeing them we thought it would be worth trying. I’m just thankful we only stayed one night, arrived fairly late and left early the next morning. The hotel is very tired. The grounds are beautiful, but the hotel itself looks like a council block. The room was dark with dim lighting, looked like it was decorated in the 80s and hasn’t been looked at since. The mattress might as well not have been there as it was so hard. I’ve stayed overnight in an NHS hospital that had a nicer bathroom. The walls could do with some soundproofing - a single sheet of paper would at least be a start. We paid £89 for the one night. I appreciate it’s not a huge sum of money, but it’s not exactly a steal; I’ve stayed in much better places for similar/less. Having said all of that, check in and out was smooth and the staff were friendly.

Travelled down from Glasgow for my husbands birthday, had a lovely time, room rate excellent, staff friendly, food excellent, rooms immaculate. Went over to Aldwark Manor, which isn't far. My husband played a round of golf, while I used the spa.. Swimming, Sauna, jacuzzi and steam room.. Later in the afternoon we took the car and did a park and ride into York. Such a lovely place truly a great weekend highly recommended. The sun was also a key factor especially in March.

Lovely stay, hotel was clean and comfortable and dinner was lovely. Staff were brilliant especially with added requests that they organised brilliantly. Hotel is in a good location to see Yorkshire! Thank you for a lovely stay

My girlfriend and I just needed a bed for the night, the room was clean and spacious for us both and the bed was very comfy! The only issue we had was trying to turn the shower off as the tap just seemed to spin in place, but we were able to fix it ourselves! But other than that I thought the hotel was great and perfect for what we needed!

Didn't like being in a disabled room. No clock in room.

Very clean, nice staff, good location and lovely room but the breakfast wasn’t great; we were first down at 8am but most of the items were cold and the bacon was like leather. Also no serving staff wearing masks which I thought was unusual at the current time?

Well positioned to enjoy many attractions of North Yorkshire

As always room was comfy, the food and service good. Unfortunately I had very little phone signal in my room or around the hotel. Also no TV at all due to a damaged TV mast. Although this is not the hotels fault, no mention of this was in the notes when booking and apparently this issue is weeks if not months old.

Hotel was lovely, staff helpful, everything clean and a very comfy bed.
