"An absolutely fantastic room! It's super close to Kyoto Station, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. The front desk service was warm and attentive. The room was spacious enough to open two suitcases side-by-side, which is quite roomy for Japan. The iron in the room was a huge plus for me, as I brought many dresses that needed ironing during my two-week trip to Japan. Housekeeping was prompt; they'd practically clean the room immediately after I put out the 'please clean' sign. On top of that, it was very quiet. I'll definitely choose this place again next time. Great value for money too."

"Stayed at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kawaramachi Jokyoji from 20-24 Dec. This was my 2nd stay there in 2 consecutive months, despite there being hundreds of hotels in Kyoto.  Location:  the hotel is located in the city center with Nishiki Market and Teramachi indoor shopping street located very closeby. Kawaramachi is also a big commercial street lined with plethora of shops and malls.  Train stations within walking distance.  Hotel Facilities and Amenities:  this is a very beautiful hotel next to a temple (and small cemetery). The rooms are exemplary clean and quite spacious for Japan’s standard. Many facilities such as a public onsen, on-site restaurant, vending machine, ice machine, etc. No gym, which is not a big deal at all if you are in Kyoto for a short tourist visit.  You will be doing a lot of walking anyway if you choose to.   I only visited the on-site restaurant for dinner once. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Service staff was accommodating (I had to use a wheelchair at the time); however, service was lackluster otherwise.   Hotel staff service:  cannot praise the service by the hotel staff enough. This time around, I had injured my foot and couldn’t walk for 2 days. I was touched by the staff’s incredible kindness - they went out of their way to really help me out. Overall:  if you want city center location with easy access to modern shops and an array of restaurants within walking distance, big and super clean room, and great hospitality,  I’d highly recommend this hotel."

"This is a long-established hotel, very close to Kyoto Station, the city's main transportation hub. The rooms are spacious with large windows that let in plenty of light. For breakfast, you have a choice of two restaurants: one is a rotating restaurant on a high floor with great views, offering a set menu. The other is a buffet on the first floor with a very rich selection. The downsides are the lack of laundry facilities, the bathroom isn't wet/dry separated, and the room lighting is a bit dim."

"Room was really comfortable! I wasn’t able to adjust the aircon temperature so it got pretty cold for me when sleeping. The toilet was Japanese style—separated from the shower stall and had a small sink to wash your hands. The POLA skincare amenities were a really nice touch!"

"The room is on the smaller side, but the bed is incredibly comfortable. The breakfast offers a great variety, and the lobby lounge area is very cozy. Plus, there's a hot spring on B1 which, though not huge, is wonderfully relaxing. The location is super convenient for getting around, with easy access to transport and plenty of dining options nearby."

"Location of the Hotel is great . The hotel is right below the Keihan Railway. Room not so big but enough for two large luggage. My negative experience was the male front staff. We are not very clear about the new property tax.and need him to explained more but he just keep quite like we are a nasty customer. But lucky he colleague come over to solved the issue."

"The room is quite spacious, and the transportation is very convenient, with a subway station not far away. The most convenient part is the hotel's shuttle bus, which departs for Kyoto Station at 55 minutes past the hour, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. It returns from Kyoto Station at 25 minutes past the hour. The driver was very steady and polite. The breakfast was especially good; the hotel offers a wide variety, including Wagyu beef, grilled salmon, and both rice porridge and Western-style buffet options. The fruit was fresh every day, with sweet strawberries and pineapples. The downside is that the laundry room was under renovation when I visited, so self-service laundry wasn't available. Also, I noticed a lingering smell of renovation, perhaps because the room hasn't been occupied much, leading to less ventilation. The surrounding environment is very quiet."

"I had a wonderful stay here. The room was spotless, surprisingly spacious, and very comfortable. It’s a great choice whether you’re traveling alone or with your partner. The self check-in system was easy to use and very convenient. Everything was smooth and stress-free from start to finish. The hotel was well-maintained, quiet, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. "Had a perfect stay at Tennen Osaka Onsen during our Kyoto trip. The hotel is clean, modern, and comfortable while still retaining some traditional Japanese elements in the room design, which gives it a unique and authentic atmosphere. The water pressure was excellent, and the complimentary onsen facilities were fantastic, with several different pools available to enjoy. One of the highlights was the generous complimentary offerings, including free-flow ramen and ice cream, which were a lovely bonus after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast deserves special mention — it was absolutely outstanding. There was a huge variety of choices, all freshly prepared and delicious. The staff continuously refilled the food, ensuring everything remained fresh throughout service. The quality of the ingredients was impressive, and guests could enjoy unlimited freshly fried tempura and fresh seafood poke bowls, which felt more like a premium restaurant experience than a hotel breakfast. Overall, an exceptional stay with excellent facilities, amazing food, and great value. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Kyoto."

"Was in Kyoto for 4 nights, and this was my second Sotetsu stay from Kobe (stayed the same hotel too during my first night at Kobe Sannomiya) and was absolutely blown away by the good service! Everything necessary was well catered for, you can just refill the toiletries as and when needed, staffs were also very friendly and helpful. There are many good food around the hotel vacinity, Aeon Mall and Advent Mall (there is Don Quijote in it) was just right beside from a few minutes walk (all within 10mins stroll). Lawson is just right beside, FamilyMart is just 5 mins away. Laundry and drying service is just right at hotel's level 1, bedding and pillow are also super comfy! Overall I am very impressed and happy at the stay in this hotel, a definite go-to choice for my future stay in Kyoto. A little pricey, but considering all the facts that it is very near Kyoto Shinkansen, with all good food and amenities around, it's worth every penny you paid for!
