"Exceptional stay - My new go-to hotel in Iloilo! I recently stayed at Figtree Hotel Iloilo and I absolutely fell in love with it. I can confidently say I will be booking this hotel for all my future travels to Iloilo! The location is fantastic and incredibly convenient, being within walking distance to SM City Iloilo. It is also surrounded by famous local restaurants— Alicia's and Netong's are in the nearby Atria Mall, and Tatoy's is located just right outside the hotel. Overall, the hotel and the rooms are remarkably clean. As a solo traveler, the room I had was perfectly sized for my needs. Another major highlight was the 5th-floor restaurant, which serves a great breakfast buffet with a good selection of food—the perfect way to kickstart your day before heading out on your itinerary. Beyond the amenities, the staff are highly polite and courteous. I also worth mentioning that the hotel layout caters well to everyone, featuring highly accessible amenities like a reliable elevator and wide, comfortable stairs. Thank you for an amazing stay. "The hotel is old but very clean, they love cleaning our room😂 Its very alive during night time but the noise is tolerable, comfortable bed, and a lot of restaurant and coffee area nearby. It is also walking distance to SM, Sam 21, nice place"

"Overall, I really liked everything. The hosts are very pleasant and welcoming; they even gave us a cute box of cookies for Christmas, which was so sweet. They're always ready to help if you need anything, so I'll definitely be back. The rooms might not be the newest, but they don't charge exorbitant prices for them either. It's a good place!!! However, the photo of the beach right nearby is misleading."

"there’s honestly nothing to complain about with this hotel. everything was amazing from the room to the staff and the overall experience. we also had so much fun at the foam party it was definitely one of the highlights of our stay! they even surprised my boyfriend with a complimentary birthday setup which was such a thoughtful touch. we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. 🫶🏻"

"The hotel has a good location. The room is spacious enough, and the food selection is also good. However, our overall experience was disappointing. First, the room air-conditioning unit was very noisy, which affected the comfort of our stay. Second, some personnel were less attentive and, sadly, came across as condescending. One particular incident happened when one of my friends asked for extra tissue paper. The staff simply said that the only tissue available was the one already provided on the table. However, when I was the one who asked for extra tissue, they gave me some. This was disappointing because it showed inconsistency in service. Guests should be treated with the same attentiveness and courtesy, regardless of who is asking. Another unpleasant experience happened after we had dinner at Festive Mall. We bought takeaway drinks from Starbucks and passed by the hotel pool area. Since there were no other guests there, we sat down for a while to enjoy the view. However, one of the bar personnel immediately approached us and, in an arrogant tone, said that outside food and drinks were not allowed. I understand that hotels have policies, but the way the policy was communicated was offensive and unnecessary. I also booked a room for three guests, but the amenities provided were only good for two. I still had to call and request the additional items. Honestly, I do not usually book hotels like this because I often feel they are not worth the money. I booked this stay mainly so my friends could experience it. Unfortunately, this experience turned out to be very disappointing. Overall: Good location, spacious room, and good food selection. However, the service needs serious improvement. For the price, I expected better promptness, gentleness, attentiveness, and consistency from the personnel. Sadly, I have experienced better service from other hotels with lower rates than Richmond."

"I expected more, especially knowing that this is a 5-star hotel. The linens had visible stains, and there were some cleanliness issues that were overlooked. I reported these to the front desk for future reference. They acknowledged my concern, but they didn't offer to change the linens or send housekeeping to check the room. (I'm not expecting any compensation. It would've just been a nice gesture if they were more proactive.) Room 308 also needs some maintenance. The AC was leaking and wasn't cooling that well. The shower heater wasn't working properly, the vanity chair was broken and almost detached, and the luggage rack near the TV was already worn out and had stains. (These issues didn't really affect my stay that much, but I think they should still be addressed. If another guest, especially a foreigner, stays here, they would definitely complain.) I didn't report these issues, even during checkout, because after my first concern, I honestly felt like they would just be ignored. During checkout, I called ahead and requested for someone to inspect the room so the process would be faster. Unfortunately, it seemed like no one was sent. I waited longer than expected—it was supposed to take around 5 minutes, but it took about 8 minutes. They also didn't give me any update. (I think if I hadn't asked for a follow-up, I would've waited even longer.) On the positive side, the breakfast was good. The Lagoon Bar was also great, especially the server there. (I forgot his name, but he's been working there for about 3 years. 😅) Overall, my stay was good. Hoping my next stay feels more like a true 5-star experience. The hotel has great potential, but I think being more proactive with guest concerns, cleanliness, and room maintenance would make a big difference."

"We had a good experience during our stay at Gateway Hotel. The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the overall atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. We appreciated the smooth service throughout our stay. The only area for improvement would be the amenities, as we did not found them compared to other hotels. Adding more amenities would make the stay even better. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would still recommend Gateway Hotel to others."
