Hangzhou Thousand Island Lake Full Day Tour

#chinatravel We arrived at 文献名邦, the entrance to the pier for the ferry to the famous 千岛湖 (Thousand Island Lake) scenic zone. Thousand Island Lake is a huge man-made fresh water reservoir covering an impressive area of 580 square kilometers on the upper reaches of Xin'an River. After the construction of the reservoir and hydropower station, the dam blocked the upper reaches of the Xin'an River to form a huge catchment area. The mountains and hills were submerged in the process to form large and small islands, a certified total of 1,078, hence the name Thousand Island Lake. The lake is known for its crystal-clear waters, picturesque scenery and abundant fresh water fish. Will showcase the sights of the two main islands xoxo. Meifeng Island梅峰岛 - This island is right smack in the centre of the lake. There is a viewing platform at the top of the island which offers a 360 degree panoramic view of the entire lake. - Sample local cuisine which is of course, fresh water fish. Moonlight Island 月光岛 - Has a few prominent displays of gigantic locks like 平安 and 开心. There are also other stone monuments on this island - There are also a few amazing fish ponds displaying small to gigantic koi when you hop between the tiny islands ! - A stopover at the famous Scholar Bridge 状元桥 - a cabled suspension bridge on Moonlight Island. Winds were strong and the bridge was shaky so didn't go all the way to the connected smaller islands lol.
