Las Vegas Travelogue Day 2｜Heavenly River at the Bottom of Antelope Canyon

Before visiting Lower Antelope Canyon, I imagined a "canyon" to be like the Grand Canyon—vast, majestic, grand, and magnificent. After coming here, I feel that Lower Antelope Canyon is delicate and reserved. From the surface, it looks like just a narrow crack, but once you descend to the bottom and wander inside, it forms its own world with a unique charm. The Grand Canyon is best viewed from afar, while Lower Antelope Canyon offers an immersive experience. p2: It was drizzling a little when we first entered the canyon. The raindrops fell sparsely into the canyon, looking somewhat like snowflakes. p3: Halfway through, the rain stopped and the sky cleared. Looking up again, the blue sky and white clouds were confined to a thin line, creating the illusion that the sky was a river and I was standing on the edge of the canyon looking down. p4-7: Imaginative humans have given special comparisons to the geological shapes carved by flowing water. Please find in the photos, in order, a seahorse, a monkey, a common Native American (definitely not me!), and a Native American chief. The last "Chief Rock" is also part of the Lower Antelope Canyon logo. p8-9: The narrowest part at the bottom of the canyon only allows one person to pass sideways (so it’s a one-way path, no turning back). The "crack" seen from the surface and the walking route following the canyon’s shape (blue part) look winding, but the total distance is only about 800 meters. p10: Horseshoe Bend, where the Colorado River carves a horseshoe-shaped bend, hence the name. p11: Leaving the paved trail, I ran in the desert near Horseshoe Bend and encountered a coyote (my first time seeing a wild wolf, wildlife encounter +1).
