Hulunbuir Grassland Tour (Pitfall-Free Guide)

Beijing is just too hot🌞! Luckily, there was a random flight deal for a round-trip ticket to Hailar, which I promptly exchanged to escape the heat. The grasslands, wetlands, forests, and border scenery all in one go, it was so worth it! 🚘Itinerary: Day1️⃣ Depart at 3 pm from Beijing Daxing to Hailar Airport✈️ Arrive in Hulunbuir, have hotpot for dinner, stay at Hanting Express Day2️⃣ Leave at 8 am for the Japanese Hailar Fortress ruins - slowly drive and enjoy the scenery at Gehr Moller River🏞 - Cliff - Have lunch in Eerguna City (Common People's Home Restaurant) - Eerguna Wetland Park (no entrance fee🎫, drive straight to the riverside) - Drive to Genhe - Stay in Genhe (Genhe Melin Pinecone Hotel) - Go out to see the Milky Way at dawn🌌 Day3️⃣ Visit Genhe morning market to buy blueberries - Genhe Source International Wetland Park (view the Greater Khingan Range forest) - Aoluguya Ewenki Reindeer Tribe (feed squirrels and reindeer) - Ride horses at Heishantou to watch the sunset (Jun Chi Horse Farm) - Stay at Heishantou (Mongolian yurt) Day4️⃣ Early departure from Heishantou by car to Hulun Lake - pass through checkpoints to view border scenery - visit Manzhouli to see the National Gate - take photos at Matryoshka Square📸 - have Russian meal in Manzhouli (Lubuli Western Restaurant) - drive back to Hailar Airport to return the car - 6:30 pm flight back to Beijing 🕳Pitfall-Free Tips: 1. Don't view the Erguna River from the viewing platform, head straight for the cliff for fewer people and better scenery. 2. Eerguna Wetland Park is not worth the ticket price, as you can't get to the water's edge. There's a route that allows direct access to the wetlands, with no people and a view of the water. 3. For horse riding in Heishantou, go to Jun Chi Horse Farm. Although it's more crowded, it's safe and there are no random charges. 4. Choosing the top few restaurants for dining won't lead to disappointment; Common People's Home and Lubuli Western Restaurant satisfied everyone in our group. 5. Genhe Source Wetland Park is worth visiting! It's a less popular attraction, not crowded even on holidays, but you can see the forest scenery of the Greater Khingan Range without specifically going to the Birch Forest scenic area. 6. As Genhe is the 'Cold Pole' of China, even summer temperatures are not high, so be prepared with long pants and a jacket. 7. The Japanese Hailar Fortress is worth a visit to see the huge underground city and remember the history of humiliation.
