leucate oyster trip from barcelona 🚗🦪🌊

we took a car from barcelona up the french coast to leucate — about 2.5 hours with normal traffic. goal: eat oysters basically at the source (＾▽＾)ﾉ between port leucate and leucate village there’s the oyster zone on *chemin des ostréiculteurs*: a line of small shacks right on the étang. plastic tables, water view, plate of oysters, lemon, local white wine — simple and perfect. typical menu: super fresh oysters of different sizes, mussels, shrimp. oysters are the clear winner here. in season (winter) you can also get sea urchins; in some places they only serve them on weekends, so it’s worth checking ahead it’s not fine dining, just very honest food: a few meters from the water to your plate. you can walk along, look at a couple of shacks and sit where it feels nicest or least crowded (｡•‿•)っ easy plan: barcelona → coastal roadtrip → leucate oyster shacks for long lunch / early dinner → short walk by the lagoon → drive back a bit salty and very happy. #france #leucate #oysters #huîtres #etangdeleucate #oystershack #seafood #seaurchin #mussels #frombarcelona #roadtrip #daytrip #mediterranean #foodie #slowtravel #travelguide #tripcom #huîtres
