Tai Shan Public Wharf

Tai Shan Public Wharf Public Wharf is located at the northern end of the (old) Tai Shan County, facing the Shui Kou Town of (old) Kai Ping County across the Tan River. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the Wen Zhang Du, and its original name was 'Ning Hai Wharf'. In the 31st year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1905), the Xin Ning Railway Company invested more than 200,000 silver dollars to build the Public Railway Branch Office building, machinery factory, parking lot, electric light factory, dock, long dike and other projects, attracting a large number of overseas Chinese and rich gentry from other places to settle down and do business. From the 32nd year of Guangxu, when the first four-story three-room Chinese Hotel (now the girls' dormitory of Xu Shan Middle School) was built on the bank of the Tan River, to the 34th year of Guangxu, only 3 years had passed, and a commercial port covering an area of 0.33 square kilometers was built. There are 13 well-shaped streets, becoming the second largest market town in Xin Ning County.
