Since I was with my parents, we decided to visit this seemingly bustling Bali Village. In summary, Bali Village is a themed scenic area that revolves around the culture of Nanyang overseas Chinese returnees, connecting their life after returning to Xinglong through Nanyang customs and scenery. Some buildings with red brick high walls have slight Indonesian characteristics, especially the prominent gate standing at the entrance, which is a complete replica of the Gate of Good and Evil from Bali, attracting tourists to take photos and giving the illusion of being abroad. The Nanyang Culture Museum at the entrance records the stories of Nanyang returnees through pictures and texts and displays the construction and development history of the Xinglong Overseas Chinese Farm. This part has historical value and is worth stopping to take a closer look. The architecture, sculptures, murals, and small landscapes inside are all mini and simplified versions of little Indonesia, and many people rent Southeast Asian costumes for photo shoots. Paired with tropical plants and the azure sky, the photos indeed turn out well. The tropical plant area has a diverse distribution of plants, including educational information about the unique cultivation methods of the pepper tree, and the park also features the 'fruit of the devil,' the wood pineapple. Due to the pleasant climate and environment, the plants are all thick and tall, with giant dragon trees and banana plants everywhere. There are several dance performances daily, with aunties dancing Indonesian-style dances, a segment my parents greatly enjoyed, with a lively and infectious atmosphere, ending on a high note. In conclusion, this kind of artificial commercialized scenic area, aside from being popular and photogenic, doesn't offer much else, and indeed it's a place you'll regret not visiting but regret even more after visiting.
