The Catholic Church on Weizhou Island is located in Shengtang Village in the northeastern part of Weizhou Island. 80% of the village believes in Catholicism. The Catholic Church, built in 1853, is the earliest church built by the Parisian Foreign Mission Church throughout the North Sea. It is still a place of religious activity and it is said that it is very effective to pray here. Entering the church, sometimes you will see the crowd taking wedding photos, and you can sit quietly in the church, look at the display and decoration inside the church, and feel the sacred atmosphere here. Although the Catholic Church is a long-standing one, its main building is still relatively well preserved. There was no reinforced concrete at the time, and the building materials were all taken from the island's corals, rocks and limes, which was very special. It is a typical Renaissance French Gothic church with towering Romanesque spires. Compared with the low houses around, the church is particularly striking.
