Armenian mountains / Lori
Lori is a province (marz) of Armenia. It is located in the north of the country, bordering Georgia. Vanadzor is the capital and largest city of the province. Other important towns include Stepanavan, Alaverdi, and Spitak. It is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries and the well-preserved Akhtala monastery, where Armenians, Georgians, and Greeks make an annual pilgrimage on September 20–21.
24 km north of Vanadzor is the town of Stepanavan․ The town has a mild and humid climate and is considered a resort town due to its natural and climatic conditions. The most famous place of Stepanavan is Dendropark, a unique park, where a natural forest landscape has been reshaped into a Forest Park. It is home to a wide variety of trees: both native and acquired from other botanic gardens. California Sequoia of the park is of particular value․

The World Heritage Site, Haghpat Monastery
The Haghpat Monastery was founded in 976 and was roughly completed in 991. It was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1996.
UNESCO commented on these two monasteries as follows: During the prosperous period of the Kiurikian dynasty (approximately from the 10th to the 13th century), these two Byzantine monasteries in the Tumanian region were important academies. The Sanahin Monastery is world-renowned for its annotations and calligraphy school. These two monastery complexes, blending Byzantine church architectural style and local traditional architectural style of the Caucasus, have formed their own unique artistic style, representing the pinnacle of Armenian religious architecture.
