Chatuchak Weekend Market
We visited several outdoor markets and night markets during our stay in Bangkok, but I definitely recommend Chatuchak Weekend Market. It is located right outside Kamphaeng Phet MRT Blue Line station. The market covers a pretty large area, although many of the shops in the inner alleyways were closed when we visited. We still found the prices to be better than many other touristy markets and managed to pick up some souvenirs for friends and family.

Chatuchak Weekend Market is a traditional market in Bangkok. This market features pretty much everything any Thai market has to offer. Bargaining is still part and parcel of the exchange. The market also has plenty of food vendors, with pretty much any cuisine you can imagine. It has always been a great place to visit in Bangkok among locals and tourists. Prepare your feet for a long walk and keep hydrated.

Where to stay in Bangkok?
There are so many good hotels, everyone has different budget needs, so it's up to you, but I also recommend a few hotels that I think are good: For couples who are not short on cash, the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, for those who want affordability without losing the hotel experience, the Centre Point Hotel Chidlom Bangkok, and for a bit of luxury, the Shangri-La Hotel Bangkok ❤️
-
Day1
Visit the supermarket on the minus one floor of the Siam Paragon Shopping District to try some durian 😋
Then you can go to the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Reclining Buddha to have a look 👀
In the evening, take the public ferry to the 'Ferris Wheel Night Market' for some food and drinks 🍻 You can also take a ride on the Ferris wheel to join in the fun 🎡
There's also a lot to buy here, and you can bargain at the stalls‼️
-
Day2
Sleep until noon, then go for a 'T&K Seafood' curry crab, raw marinated shrimp, and mango sticky rice ✔️ T&K is a well-known local chain (quality is top-notch online) so just search for this restaurant on the map and go to whichever is closest.
Then head to the 'Chatuchak Weekend Market' for a stroll (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). This market is huge, with food, drinks, and shopping. By the time you're done, it's usually evening and you can barely walk ✔️ That's when you can go to the famous massage parlor Let's Relax for a massage‼️ The Centre Point Hotel Chidlom Bangkok I recommended at the beginning has a branch of this massage parlor on the first floor, which is why I often stay at this hotel when I'm in Bangkok 😂
-
Day3
Sleep until noon and go to Chulalongkorn University for a stroll. The campus is open and large, and you can check in anywhere. There are also many popular restaurants among students, such as 'Chula 50's' affordable crab meat rice. It's really delicious, but it's just too crowded during meal times. Also, the Centre Point Hotel Chidlom Bangkok I mentioned at the beginning is just a 2-minute walk from these popular restaurants 😂 You can take away food and eat back at the hotel.
In the evening, you can go to Chinatown for some food and drinks. Famous dishes like pig's trotter rice and pig's offal soup are easy to find there. You can also try some bird's nest and shark fin. Don't think that you shouldn't go to Chinatown just because it's mostly Chinese; the shops run by Chinese descendants there are really delicious 😋
-
Day4
You should definitely visit the big malls like Terminal 21 and the downtown King Power Duty Free Shop‼️ The former has many cultural and creative stores, and there's a lot of food and drink, making it very enjoyable to shop‼️ I don't always find the prices of luxury goods at King Power very attractive, but tourists can get vouchers with their passports, and having a meal in the food area is no problem 😋 Then you can go shopping for some local products to take home as gifts 🎁
-
Eating, drinking, and massages are the main highlights of a trip to Bangkok 😌
It's really comfortable and happy ❤️
Bangkok has two airports, and I recommend 'Suvarnabhumi Airport' ✈️ It's very new and big, and the international flight waiting area is full of King Power Duty Free shops 🛍️ Even if your flight is delayed, you'll have a great time shopping there ❤️

I like to visit the animal corner at the chatuchak weekend market. Here you will find many cute animals. There are dogs as well as other smaller animals such as hamsters and guinea pigs. You can also find special animals too. Like the two head mouse, or toads, or snake .You can even find small crocodiles, snakes, reptiles, and other animals. You can find flying fox and squirrels there too. It will be a very relaxing walk over there at the weekends market. The nearest BTS is mo chit station.

Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok
Visiting the grand Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok is a must, and personally, I feel there's no need for a specific strategy. Simply wandering around at leisure seems more relaxing. Once you step into the market, with its narrow alleys and the throng of people coming and going, it's easy to lose any sense of direction anyway.
It's known as the largest outdoor market in Southeast Asia, covering 140,000 square meters with over 15,000 stalls. It's estimated that up to several hundred thousand people visit daily, including tourists from all over the world and locals. It's a must-visit destination for treasure hunting and shopping when in Bangkok!
As lunchtime approaches, the food area and surrounding stalls, offering coconut ice cream, fresh fruit, Thai milk tea, Thai fried noodles, banana pancakes, barbecue, etc., see long queues of waiting visitors. I chose a small Thai food stall, sat under a not-so-spacious awning, sweat dripping down, ordered rice noodle soup and stir-fried greens, and had a chilled fruit juice to cool off. After eating, I was sweating profusely, but a cold coconut water made me feel refreshed and comfortable.
The variety of goods here is incredibly diverse, ranging from clothing accessories, shoes and hats, fragrances, kitchenware, household goods, stationery, bags, soaps, artistic lighting, handmade jewelry, souvenirs, etc., many of which are fashionable and aesthetically pleasing. Items like colorful flip-flops and cotton T-shirts with creative designs are particularly popular among the youth.
After walking around the whole market, I still hadn't seen everything. If you find something you like, I think it's best to buy it right away. It's inevitable to compare prices, but if the quality and price are acceptable, don't miss out.
🔖Tips:
1. Thailand's weather is hot; remember to apply sunscreen and drink plenty of water.
2. The entire weekend market is a non-smoking area (including outdoors), with a fine of 2000 Thai Baht.
3. Always keep an eye on your valuables.
4. You can ask the staff at the entrance for a map of the market.
📍Address:
Thailand Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, Bangkok, Kamphaeng Phet 3 Rd, 10900
⏰Business Hours:
Saturday and Sunday 08:30~22:00 (Some stalls are open on weekdays, but it feels quite different)
🚇Transportation:
1. Take the BTS to Mo chit station, exit 1 and walk for about 6-8 minutes.
2. Take the MRT to Chatuchak Park station, exit 1 and walk for about 3-4 minutes. If you get off at Kamphaeng Phet station, take exit 2 and walk for about 2-3 minutes.

Chatuchak Weekend Market is one of the popular shopping places that we tourists love to visit!
The weekend market itself is extremely huge and we may get lost even if we visited here more than once.
One tip here is: if you see what you really like, do not hesitate and buy because it is not easy to find back the shop again after walking away~
You can find all sorts of items here such as t-shirts, pants, pet related items, bags and so much more!
