We visited Hotel Gajoen to explore their Hinamatsuri exhibit and it did not disappoint. It is a great time to learn about the Girls' Day festival in Japan and see displays of years' worth of Hinamatsuri dolls from all over the country. The exhibit is set up in rooms that jut off from the historic 100-step staircase in the hotel. Definitely a must see if you are visiting Japan in March. Plus you can try on kimono at the last stop and they will very gladly take pictures for you.
Hotel Gajoen is not only a great place to stay but also offers areas to relax and dine or to have afternoon tea.
Also make sure to pay the historical part of the hotel a visit. Paying the small entrance fee of the Hyakudan Kaidan will open the doors to what is also known as the Palace of the Dragon King of Showa Era, a 99-step staircase that is home to Japanese-styled rooms and wall-decorations.

Tokyo | Stayed at a hotel that's like a piece of art! Meguro Gajoen
If you travel to Tokyo, sisters must stay at Meguro Gajoen! Even if it's just for one night, it's really worth it!
📍Location: Located by the Meguro River, you can see the most famous cherry blossom viewing spot of Meguro River right from the hotel. It's a 10-minute walk from the hotel to the train station, which is very convenient. There's also a bluebottle coffee shop nearby.
-
🏨Hotel: It's surprisingly beautiful! The hotel has a courtyard landscape with a small waterfall that is absolutely a great spot for taking photos! The hotel is huge, you have to walk through the courtyard to get to the elevator, and every part of the decoration is very Japanese, with rich and vibrant colors, looking very luxurious. There's also a billion-yen washroom (restroom) that's really worth checking out!
-
🛋️Room: There are Japanese-style and Western-style rooms available. We stayed in a Western-style room because there were no other rooms available. The room is really big! It's said that each room is over 80 square meters, which is really huge for a hotel in Japan~ And the furnishings in the room are simple yet thoughtful. You can also take very nice photos in the room!
-
💁Service: Check-in was completed in the executive lounge by the staff.
🍵They have Japanese tea ceremony, and a lot of drinks and snacks. And the staff serve kneeling down throughout the process. It's really very Japanese and very considerate~
-
💰Price: The hotel price seems to be around 3000, varying with the season. It's hard to book during the cherry blossom season and it's expensive, so I recommend visiting during off-peak times, and sometimes there are special deals! It's really worth staying for one night because the hotel itself is an attraction, and you can take amazing photos here!

Enjoying Blossoms at Tokyo's Finest Hotel
At Meguro Station's 'Hotel Gajoen Tokyo,' a unique 'museum hotel' with a distinctive style, Mr. Rikizo Hosokawa began in 1928 at his home in Shibaura, Minato Ward, and moved to the current Meguro location in 1931 to expand. Originally a high-end restaurant specializing in Japanese and Peking cuisine, it has gradually transformed to become accessible to the general public over time.
The elegance and tradition of Meguro Gajoen perfectly complement the Meguro cherry grove. From the lobby decorations to the cherry blossom-themed afternoon tea and the Japanese garden, as well as Japan's only all-wooden structure - the 'Hundred Steps Staircase' wood carvings, everything makes one feel like they have become the Cherry Princess.

Stay in the museum at the original scene of Spirited Away in Tokyo Yaesu Garden
🌸 Japanese people always seem to find the perfect balance between luxury and simplicity, implanting perfectly set traditional courtyards into hotels, and you can enjoy the night cherry blossoms at a turn 🏮
🎐 Located on the bank of the Meguro River, Tokyo Yaesu Garden is such an existence. It started operating in 1928 and was once known as the 'Showa Ryugu Castle'. It is also the real original scene of the 'oil house' in Hayao Miyazaki's 'Spirited Away'

【Ancient city-like Japanese hotel】
🎏 Passing through the hotel gate, there are ninety-year-old carved corridors, Japanese courtyards and waterfall landscapes. Looking around, the murals of the atrium and the colored woodblock prints on the corridor walls are dazzling. There is also the world's most expensive bathroom worth exploring
🖼 Inheriting more than 90 years of history, the hotel has 2500 Japanese paintings and crafts, among which the 'Hundred Step Staircase' designated as a tangible cultural property by Tokyo is a feast for everyone's eyes
🗝 The hotel only has 60 suites of various types, divided into modern style and Japanese style. Each is over 80 square meters and is equipped with a massage bathtub and steam sauna... Looking out from the open windows of the guest room, you can take in the broad city view of Tokyo
🎎 The hotel has 23 special banquet halls, and quickly became Japan's top comprehensive wedding venue with its unique beauty
