Changzhou has a truly ancient village and town that is even more charming than Qingguo Alley and worth a visit
Changzhou's city center has a Qingguo Alley, which many tourists say has been renovated and lacks the authentic feel of an ancient town or street. So, come with me to the suburban Jiaoxi Ancient Town and take a look!
🍐 Today, the only 'commercial' aspect of this authentic ancient town's old street is a granny selling local Jiaoxi honey pears under the bridge.
.
🤠 After visiting, I learned that this ancient town has two extremely rare surnames: 'Cheng' and 'Shi'. There are about 8,000 people with the surname 'Shi' in the whole country, and 2,000 of them are in Jiaoxi. I personally have never met anyone with these two surnames.
.
📜 It is said that 'a Qingguo Alley tells half the history of Changzhou', and the cultural heritage of Jiaoxi Ancient Town is also impressive. Liu Bannong, a famous pioneer of the New Culture Movement, taught at a school here before he went to teach at Peking University. His poem 'How Can I Not Think of Her' not only coined the word 'her', but is also widely circulated today. Now, this phrase has also become the slogan for Changzhou's cultural and tourism promotion.

This is not Wuxi, it's Jiaoxi
🔥You don't need to go to Suzhou or Wuxi to feel the atmosphere of an ancient town. Although it's not completely finished yet, it has everything it should have, and the atmosphere will be even better once it's fully completed.
🏠Opening of Jiaoxi Ancient Town in Changzhou, address: about 100 meters northwest of the intersection of County Road 303 and Xihetou Road in Tianning District, with free admission
🚗Parking: At the entrance of the village, parking lot (free)
🔥Highlights:
❤️One river, four bridges, five streets, thirteen alleys, white walls, green tiles, small bridges, flowing water, stone-paved ancient paths, this place has all the features of a southern town, but Jiaoxi Ancient Town is not yet fully commercialized. It's more primitive and purer, which is the characteristic of the ancient town.
❤️The river water is curling, the years are passing slowly, the untrimmed branches and vines climb wildly, the original earthen walls are mottled, telling the past~
❤️Suitable for walking with children, the ancient village is not big, the roads are all stone-paved, and it's quite fun for children to walk around. Many stone arch bridges are also the children's favorites. The size of the ancient village means that even without a stroller, it won't be too tiring. There are seats by the river for resting, eating, and drinking.
❤️There are many snacks inside, such as shrimp cakes, tofu brains, egg burgers, etc., as well as coffee shops. The atmosphere and prices in the coffee shops are good. There are also freshly squeezed juices. A family of 88 can walk, take photos, and eat and drink beautifully. The prices inside are also not expensive.
❗️Note
❤️The ancient town is in the process of renovation and has not been fully developed. The progress is very slow, and it was still under construction last year. It's the same this year
🔥The transportation is inconvenient as it is located at the junction of Changzhou and Wuxi, and across the river is Wuxi Jiangyin. If you drive, searching directly for Jiaoxi Ancient Town won't work, remember to search for Jiaoxi Ancient Village.

The forgotten ancient town of Changzhou is quietly changing
One river, four bridges, white walls, green tiles, small bridges, flowing water, and stone-paved ancient paths - all the features of a typical southern Chinese town can be found here. What sets Jiaoxi ancient town apart is that it has not been fully commercialized; it's more primitive, more pure.
Under the bridge, chive pancakes and dumplings are easily found, as are the ubiquitous shrimp cakes. The parking navigation is still under construction at the entrance of Jiaoxi Film and Theatre. A leisurely stroll from one end to the other, taking photos, can easily fill an hour.
Take the chance to visit Jiaoxi before it becomes fully commercialized! Jiaoxi ancient village

The forgotten ancient town of Changzhou—Jiaoxi Ancient Town
Jiaoxi Ancient Town is a civilized ancient town with a history of more than 700 years, and it is also the best preserved ancient town in Changzhou with the style of the south of the Yangtze River. Its natural scenery and historical style are even better than the famous Zhouzhuang. 'One river, four bridges, five streets, and thirteen lanes' are still intact. Although the prosperity and long history of Jiaoxi have been covered by the present world, the simple town with the imprint of vicissitudes is quietly in the south of the Yangtze River, still exuding a strong cultural atmosphere, and it is still a famous town in the hearts of local people.

Changzhou | Jiaoxi Ancient Village Half-day Tour
| Jiaoxi Ancient Village Half-day Tour. It's about twenty kilometers from Changzhou city center, reachable in just over half an hour by car, suitable for self-driving. Following the navigation to drive there, the outside is just a very ordinary village, hardly believing that I have arrived at the scenic spot. The village road outside is full of parked cars, and there are village officials and volunteers on duty at the entrance to guide tourists.
The ancient village has not been completely built yet. You have to pass through a residential area and a construction site before you get to the main part. The scenic area is not big, and it can be visited in just over an hour. The commercialization of the ancient village is not serious, most of them are small shops opened by residents at their own doors, very lively and at reasonable prices. In addition to this, there are also some exhibition halls in the ancient village that introduce the situation of the village.
If you want to visit, the experience might be better after it is built in another two years. I hope that Jiaoxi Ancient Village can still maintain its original appearance by then.

The forgotten ancient town of Changzhou--Jiaoxi
Jiaoxi, the ancient town of a thousand years, is located in Jiaoxi Village, Tianning District, Changzhou City.
One river, four bridges, five streets, and thirteen alleys are the characteristics of the ancient town. The river is misty, the years are slow, the unconstructed vines climb wildly, and the original yellow mud walls are mottled, telling the full story of the past town.
There are some modern elements in the village: coffee shops, teahouses, fragrant leek pancakes. When passing by, why not give yourself time, immerse yourself in the fragrance of flowers, and steal half a day's leisure in this ancient town.
Changzhou Jiaoxi Town
Changzhou, a small and original ancient town that few people know about. Changzhou Jiaoxi Ancient Town is a civilized ancient town with a history of more than 700 years. It is also the best preserved ancient town in Changzhou with a southern style, and its natural scenery.
Walking into the ancient town, walking through these old alleys, you will feel the original simplicity here. The ancient villagers, due to local conditions, piled up huge stone walls. The ancient houses along the street are well preserved, and each family's door tower has brick carvings and window grid wood carvings, characters, landscapes, folk tales, and the carving craftsmanship is exquisite. The old houses built by the river have different levels, heights and lows, and have a sense of rhythm. Green bricks, black tiles, old wooden doors that have been eroded by wind and rain and can't see the color, and the wild trees growing in the broken walls... Hundreds of years of wind and rain have created the depth and introversion of the ancient town.
Jiaoxi Ancient Town is located at the junction of Changzhou, Wuxi, and Jiangyin. It has a history of more than 700 years of civilization. It may be due to transportation and local development. It has not been baptized by commerce and is rare and quiet. It is expected to be the upcoming popular ancient town!
The intact Ming and Qing buildings in Jiaoxi are as many as hundreds of blocks. The "one river, four bridges, five streets, and thirteen alleys" are still intact.
Jiaoxi Old Street is divided into southeast, northwest and middle streets. Most of the houses use yellow stone blocks produced locally in Heshan as the wall base, which forms the unique feature of Jiaoxi houses in Changzhou area--the impression of stone houses.
The earliest of the existing four ancient bridges is called "Sanyuan Bridge", which was built in the early Qing Dynasty.
Here, it seems to have stepped into the Jiangnan of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Scenic spot: Jiaoxi Ancient Town
Address: Jiaoxi Village, Zhenglu Town, Tianning District
P Parking information: Navigation to Tuan Jiaoxi Film and Television Theater can park
Opening hours: 24 hours Ticket: Free
Overall evaluation: The ancient town is still under construction, only a part has been opened and there are not many merchants settled in! So the commerciality is weak! Suitable for walking and taking pictures
2 The ancient town is quiet! The ginkgo is yellow! The autumn color is still worth a visit. The popular "Xiangyuan" tree is very photogenic! The lemon-yellow fruit is full of branches. 3 The overall scale is not large! I personally feel more suitable for relaxation or photography
Small bridges and flowing water! Stop and go! It is the way to open it. The most time-traveling ancient town

|Jiaoxi Ancient Town. Jiaoxi Ancient Village is the third batch of villages listed in the Chinese Traditional Village Directory in Jiangsu Province.
Jiaoxi Village has a history of more than 700 years, and the ancient village has woven a beautiful scenery of 'small bridges, flowing water, and homes'.
Jiaoxi Village has five characteristics. It is a major town outside the prefecture in Changzhou and even in the Jiangnan region with a complete mountain and water pattern, traditional streets and lanes that have been completely preserved to this day, characteristic buildings with half walls of yellow stone and winds from the south to the north, traditional market towns with the business legacy of Jiangnan, and a cultural place of sages who respect virtue and learning.

Changzhou's real ancient village, more flavorful than Qingguo Lane
Changzhou city has a Qingguo Lane, many tourists say it is renovated, without the taste of ancient towns and streets. Then follow me to the suburban Jiaoxi ancient town to have a look!
Today, come to this authentic ancient town old street, the only "commercialization" is the CBD under the bridge. There is an old lady selling local Jiaoxi honey pears.
After visiting, I learned that this ancient town has two extremely niche surnames, namely: "Cheng" and "Shi", among which there are about
8000 people with the surname "Shi" nationwide, and Jiaoxi has 2000. I personally have not met friends with these two surnames.
It is said that "a Qingguo Lane, half of Changzhou's history", the cultural heritage of Jiaoxi ancient town is not bad, the famous pioneer of the New Culture Movement Liu Bannong taught in the school here before going to Peking University.
Later his poem "Teach me how not to think of her", not only invented the word "her", but now it is widely circulated. Now this sentence has also become the slogan of Changzhou's cultural tourism.
