A small shrine at Shimbashi, Karasumori Shrine
#cherryblossom2024
I was walking around Shimbashi area and stumbled across this little shrine in the middle of Izakaya streets and bars. As the name implies, the word Karasu denotes the Kanji character "birds", as during the time when this shrine was built, there are numerous birds hanging around the lush forest, thus gives this shrine the name Karasumori, means forest of birds. This shrine spans a history of more than 1000 years ago when the shogun Hidesato worshipped to this an Inari shrine, a white fox appeared and gave him arrows to fight off his enemy, and thus he decided to built a shrine in memorial of this white fox. Definitely worth a visit after a drink at the yakitori bar.
